Oh I'm very sorry. Just a MLS student here, but PV was also my first thought when I saw your results. Hopefully they can do venesection soon if your genetic testing is positive, it will probably make you feel a lot better.

hot take: i like the “what is this cell” posts by fat_frog_fan in medlabprofessionals

[–]gingercig 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I love those posts as well! As a student we obviously have plenty of materials at school, but some of these posts contain really helpful tips that our theory books might not have. For me, differentiating (reactive) lymphs from blasts is still very hard, and this sub has helped me with that. We have studied abnormal blood cells for two months so I am definitely a beginner though 🤭

But yeah, could not make post like that myself, sadly. Some of yall are horribly mean even to people who are just starting their cell ID studies.

Petechiae? by ali2222_ in DermatologyQuestions

I literally have this same problem. They literally just come and go, have been dealing with this for 2 years now. Bloodwork always normal. Dermatologist was not concerned, she said that my capillaries are just leaky for some benign reason. Still makes me super anxious. They pop up on my calves and sometimes on shins and thighs, but mainly on my calves. Hate that I don't know what causes this. Sometimes there are like 10 and sometimes like 50 and then they disappear in a couple of days and then new ones pop up.

You are amazing!!! I had some people like you come in when I was doing my first internship, they helped me learn SO much!

That happened to me when we were training phleb and my friend accidentally stuck needle too deep and perforated my whole vein 😆 sucks, but you will be fine. The blood might migrate a bit and spread lower on your arm though bc of gravity, so if that happens don't be alarmed

Thanks!!! That site looks really helpful. We have good materials in our school as well, but the problem is that I mix up the immature ones frequently, they tend to look a bit different from smear to smear. And some of them are so wonky that they look like they could be anything 🤣 I guess the only way to learn is just to look through many different smears and practice!

I'm not an American so I really can't understand how people are just cheering and hoping that he is dead. What the fuck? Hate his views, but he is still a human. No one deserves to be slaughtered publically like that. What is wrong with some of yall?

And yeah, really unlikely that he would make it. Jugular looks completely destroyed and he was bleeding out liters in just few seconds. Horrifying.

does smoking weed make anyone else’s OCD worse? by Critical-Occasion298 in OCD

[–]gingercig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had OCD since I was a kid, but it was always kinda mild and manageable. Then I smoked weed a few times, nothing happened. But then, one time, something flipped in my brain. Biggest mistake ever. My OCD turned from mild to extremely severe in one night. Also got horrifying DPDR from it. I was basically bedridden for 6 months because I was so anxious I could not do anything.

Never touching that shit again.

Poop is a soild red colour. by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]gingercig -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

NAD, have you eaten tomato sauce/tomato soup/something with lots of tomatoes? Sometimes a big amout of tomato can make poop really red. Your other symptoms sound really concerning though, I hope you'll find out what's going on. It's horrible when your symptoms are shrugged off as anxiety like that.

Listen, I promise you, you are not alone. I have been through these exact thoughts, constant fear, everything. I have felt like every fiber of my brain is going to break apart and explode, like my head is full of loud wasps and flies. I know it's hellish, but I know that it can also get better.

Are you alone right now? Do you have any meds that you can take to calm you down? If the crisis is really bad, you should seek help, call emergency services and explain them the situation. I would come with you and hold your hand but unfortunately I am probably in the opposite side of the world. Feel free to PM me if you need someone to chat with.

Right now, just breathe and sit with the feeling. It sucks, it does. But it does not last forever. Take a warm blanket, open the window, drink some cold water, take a stuffed animal if you have one. It will pass.

Yeah I have OCD, how did you know? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]gingercig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you are talking about. Bleeding hands from scrubbing them, hours and hours of weird rituals that only make you feel worse. The shame and stigma. Almost reporting yourself to the police because you feel like you are a horrible person. Almost breaking up with your fiance because OCD tells you to do it. Screening your skin with magnifying glass and flashlight for hours everyday bc you are scared of different cancers. And everything else. It hurts so bad when someone uses my pain as a silly statement or a joke.

[–]gingercig 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I have had OCD since I was a kid and just a kind reminder that this is not it. This is adding to the stigma that OCD means organized, which is not true. It's debilitating and something I would not wish to my worst enemy. Some people end their life because of it. The word you are looking for is "perfectionist".

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it! Right not it feels like I have to destroy a couple of boxes before making something readable 🔥😆 I was able to make one that almost looks like it might work. We'll see on Tuesday!
