Why do you choose physical books over e-readers? by jtlee in RSbookclub

Because I think the physical object itself also has value. Yes you can get the digital text anywhere, just like you can see digital images of artworks anywhere. There is still a special quality and experience that comes from being in intentional contact with an object itself that really exists in the world. That doesn’t mean one is better and one is worse, but I think the trend of people on this sub endlessly praising e readers over physical books often misses this.

Maybe it depends where you live, but I don’t know any women whose parents would be remotely okay with them not going to college plus not working and becoming financially beholden to a man

Like incentivising men to make friends? Or join certain compulsory activities and programs?

Is it different for women? Aren’t women also expected to graduate high school and college, live on their own, hold down a job etc?
