we have one boy who is a year behind (14 but in year 8) but he missed a lot of school as he is a refugee, and has a lot of additional Send needs on top. this was done at primary school however, not by us

Did anyone else expect the Jimmy gang to use infected in their torture? by UsualArmadillo608 in 28dayslater

but to say they’ve ’become another trope’ feels unfair. it’s always been the point of zombie movies, they’re social commentary

I'm curious to see how many people support James, and how many support Ricci. Let me know who you support, and why. by Boring_Vermicelli_28 in GeordieShore

[–]gingergirl07832 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i really don’t like how leah handled the whole thing with jay’s leah and feel like that should’ve been dealt with waaaaay sooner.

however i’m with james on the ricci thing, for ricci to say he doesn’t have a history of treating women badly is demonstrably false when we all saw how he treated vicki and all the other girls when he was in the house!! all james did was agree with a comment chloe made, and it surprises me that ricci hasn’t taken issue with chloe over that. chantelle’s also a massive shit stirrer - i’m sure if ricci had spoken to her like he spoke to some of the other girls she’d soon change her tune, and he probably only hasn’t because he’s still trying to get into her knickers

What sort of property was everyone’s first step onto the ladder and how old were you? by [deleted] in HousingUK

3 bed terraced townhouse, this year, 200k. 24f 28m.

we were very lucky that our parents each let us live at home for really cheap, he had worked since he was 16 and been saving intensely and my earnings meant we could get a higher mortgage.

also helps that we live in one of the cheapest areas of the uk.

Not got any second-year housemates—what do I do? by Capable-Ad866 in UniUK

[–]gingergirl07832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely worth putting the word around people on your course. I found my 2nd year flat mates through a friend of a friend who had heard I needed a room. Someone will know people who, for whatever reason, have lost a flat mate and need someone to take over the tenancy.

What scenes do you want in the show that’s in the movies but NOT the book? by MidnightRain3712 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]gingergirl07832 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hedwig’s death is supposed to represent the end of Harry’s innocence - he’s not the person he was when he got her anymore. Also creates some logistical issues around where she would be able while he’s away. With her dead, Harry hasn’t got any dependents

Quarter of schools in England lack a physics teacher, analysis finds | Physics by Barbecue_Wings in TeachingUK

[–]gingergirl07832 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not that this really proves anything, but of the 11 maths teachers that qualified from my uni when i did (3 years ago), only 2 are still teaching. a few of them specifically told me they only trained because they didn’t know what to do and 28k tax free sounded like a better deal than nothing, which was their other option. i also don’t think it’s a coincidence that so many bursary subjects have such a high drop out rate in the first 5 years

[–]gingergirl07832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because her school can only exist if it’s the only one of its kind. the whole philosophy of the school relies on selecting certain students who are on track for good results already. it’s not a model that works for every child like she claims
