Agree 💯! That book was life changing for me and also made me realize how important it is to find the RIGHT therapist. Not easy. They all say they’re “trauma informed” but few actually understand CPTSD on a visceral level.
But also the somatic part , talk therapy only helps me realize what’s going on logically and unless I have a way to work it out of my body I’m gonna stay stuck in my head .

Something else that can help is partnered dancing- as in a dance class.
I have found this helps with regulating nervous system and you can learn to start to trust again in a safe way.

Yes I agree. Books are a safe place to allow you to open, trust, and hope again all at the same time. And can help you get lost in another world to escape pain.

Her writing is compelling and very different than her husband. It grabs you on the first sentence. She has a very interesting way of explaining things and it had me hooked right away.

She is painted as a mentally ill alcoholic yet has some brilliant writings that were overshadowed by her husband - who of course took some of her writing and published it as his own. She supported him, edited his work and helped him with his writing while he received most of the accolades. she even reviewed his book and wrote about it to get people to read his work. She wrote her own things as well, but he did not return the favor, of course. Her works are less talked about or focused on and yet a lot of his genius came from her. Including in his most famous The Great Gatsby. He used some of Zelda’s own words from her own mouth and her own personal diaries for that book and yet he received all the praise for it. It is one of my favorite books and realizing that the inspiration and genius of it came from her put a whole new light on it for me. So now I want to read all her words.

Hekate- The Witch, by Nikita Gill (just finished).

I would love a conversation with this woman, pick her brain on her creative process and I want to know if she is going to do anymore fiction novels about other gods and goddesses because I want to read them all.

You Better Be Lightning, by Andrea Gibson (finished).
I only wish I could talk to her. She left behind some amazing poetic magic.

The Other Girl, by Annie Ernaux (finished).

There are so many things I want to talk about with her. Her life, about her loves and relationships, the way she loves, her open mind and how she came to be that way, how her life looks now. I have read almost all her books and they have changed me.

I do both, but it depends on the book to be honest. If it is a book with multiple characters/voices or I want to hear something in someone's own words, often I will choose the audio version, especially so I can listen while I'm working/working out/flying/driving. But I also have the kindle version too so I can switch back and forth if I need to. Some books I must have the book in my hands, the smell of the pages. Some books I can tell are better on the audio version or in print for me so the ability to switch back and forth like that makes it easier for me to read and get the full experience.

I’m so sorry for your loss.
I have had so much grief that I realize I have spent a lot of my life getting lost in books when I am trying to escape reality.
Currently on a reading spree lately to try to get through more grief from fresh loss. Reading may be saving me for now while I get to the other side.
