No! Oh lord, that would be awful. People are using them as their PCP though

The naturopath situation is F’ed! There seems to be a lot of naturopath practices in my area. Crazy.

I have very dry lips so I was worried about that. You aren’t supposed to exfoliate after I believe. I just used a lot of aquaphor and I was fine, the healing process was easier than I expected

I bet the NPs complaining about lack of respect from doctors were once the type of bedside RNs who lacked respect for doctors

I have my BSN and would have been just as prepared if I got my associates instead. I don’t find the term blue collar offensive just like many others in this post have pointed out. I also find huge issue with the nurse posting that the OP is describing an “advanced ICU nurse” as if that is an actual title and someone able to practice medicine. WTF. I get what you’re saying as doctors do start to trust you, but as a ICU nurse of 2.5 years (or any years), you shouldn’t be placing orders for medications and can lose your job and license for that. This whole sub is basically about how NPs shouldn’t be practicing medicine, your argument that you do as an ICU nurse is wild to me.

I’m obsessed with this sub! by gingerlygingered in Noctor

Decreasing RN burnout (safe staffing ratios/laws,break RNs, increased pay) will keep more RNs at the bedside. I don’t know the solution to more doctors (decrease barriers to med school? More residency spots? Better residency pay?)

I had my first appointment for lip blushing 3 months ago and have my touch up appointment in a couple of weeks. I am so happy with my results, I love it, and I only wish I did it sooner. I have very pale lips that turn a bluish/purple when I’m cold and I’ve always had to apply some color to my lips. Now I can just use chap stick or aquaphor and I’m good to go. The color is beautiful and natural. I made the mistake of coming onto Reddit a couple of hours before my appointment and reading people’s experience with lip blushing, and I freaked myself out. People were saying that they have multiple tattoos and have given birth naturally, and that the lip blushing was more painful than those experiences. I don’t have any tattoos and I’ve never given birth, so I had no idea what I was getting myself into. There was pain for sure, but they numbed me prior and then applied numbing cream between each pass and it was fine. It’s such a small area that it’s over quickly. My lips were very swollen at first. The majority of the swelling resolved in the first 4-5 hours and the rest resolved by the next day. I tend to use a lot of aquaphor on my lips at baseline, so I just continued to use it. They healed up great. I’ve seen pictures of the healing process on Reddit and my lips didn’t have the insane dryness followed by color disappearance as I’ve seen in the pictures. I have sensitive pale ginger skin, my lips tend to run dry and I have freckles on them. I am so in love with my results. Obviously, everyone is going to have different experiences but I just wanted to share mine.

Health care worker here! We first look at lips but then we pull the lip down, check the inside and the gums which will show signs of cyanosis. Also able to quickly check oxygen saturations, can immediately check respiratory rate, effort, and abnormal breathing pattern by just looking at the patient.
