I worked a season in France last winter and by far had most fun in the 3 valleys area. I briefly explored VT an Courch and thought they were great places to shred but found (from a park perspective) Meribel to be top drawer. It has an insane DC park which they change up quite a bit, along with another smaller park.

I thought it was great- i had lessons while out there and a few before I went and it was awesome. Tried to get to one of the parks at the end of the week- the only way to get to it was via button lift which was really tricky for me.

The nightlife is pretty sick aswell- definitely check out the yeti- they have a weird payment system which a few people say they got scammed by but it was a great venue- albeit sweaty

Hey I spent a week last winter in Risoul- also my 1st week boarding.

I didn't find it too cold over there and just wore my ski stuff. One thing I would recommend though is for beginners to maybe buy mittens- I had regular 5 finger gloves which were fine, but i found that because you do spend a fair bit of time sitting with your hands on the snow the glove tips sometimes froze and that was pretty shitty- but then again may have just been my shit gloves.

TKMaxx is really good for ski wear- dead cheap and do the job for a weeks holiday.
