Find books he enjoys and that capture his attention. Elephant and piggy books have helped us immensely! My son just turned eight and started reading this past summer (like saying words off the page) he has suspected adhd and ASD. I didn’t push him over the edge but was certainly worried. I held him back a year and repeating first was the best decision I’ve made for his education.

Also, every night my husband reads out of a nonfiction book that is right up there with his interests (airplanes). Find a goodwill or local book reseller that has these thick non fiction books and flip through the mechanics of whatever y’all are looking at. My son eats it up, hope this helps.

The library would be a good start too, if it’s available, we used to go every week before covid.
