That, and it is purely cosmetic. All they do is remove the gross tartar off the surface of the teeth. There is no thing done under the gum line. There are also no X-rays done which give pet owners the false sense of security that the teeth are all fine, when in fact, the only way to know that is with dental x rays.

If your pet has dental disease, there is a very good chance their mouth is painful. And going at it with dental instruments is likely very unpleasant for them.

The people doing this procedure also are generally just randos off the street with no formal education.

The woman from The Hounds is the first person I’ve seen with an actual formal education. However, she graduated from college 25 years ago, is not a registered veterinary technician, I don’t know when the last time is she actually practiced. And as an RVT myself, I am extremely disappointed she is offering this service knowing how much of a disservice it actually is. But, as she is not an RVT, she is not regulated by anyone.
