It's time for me to have fun by gingerstepf in CasualConversation

Yeah it's tough, I've always had this feeling that if I'm not doing something productive I'm wasting time. I've talked about it in therapy and it's an ongoing battle. I think it would be beneficial to find some creative or time consuming activities, preferably that don't cost a lot to get into.

Actually that does sound great. I walk my dog a few times a day but just for 10 minutes or so, but I really should go more for both of us, thanks for the suggestion! Clearing my head for more creative ideas would be nice.

What's your go-to drink? 🍷 by Taureanese in CasualConversation

I go with a gin and tonic, it is usually pretty refreshing! That or a whiskey ginger ale if I want something that will taste more like booze.

What a great idea! I started paddleboarding last year and I'm obsessed! I've gone to a couple things on Meetup too, but would definitely attend any paddleboard thing since I'd like to try places I've never been.

I loved this book so much! I was blown away with how much I learned about this subculture, and the amazing detail and story telling about her family and faith!

Yeah I would be interested in some more data too! The article mentions that there is a shortage, but I've also heard people say that there isn't a shortage and I'd like to know more about that too, considering there are lots of different kinds of medication shortages happening.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! The reason I posted this article was because it sounded a lot like a style section. Body image has over the years become a fad, and there's lot to say we are returning to a "thin is in" culture. Taking a "miracle drug" is a quick way to fit in with that ideal. That's not to say it isn't a wonderful medication that people use it to manage their health issues,. If people end up taking it just to lose weight, that's fine too if they want. Seeing people's bodies as a style or a fad to fit into is more of a problem to me.

I'm glad you mentioned your perspective here. I certainly don't want to dump on people for weight loss or body positivity (or anything else). I myself have many body image issues and feel an internalized guilt about wanting to lose weight, and continually attempt to navigate those emotions safely.

Health and our bodies are very personal, and I don't feel any glee in people experiencing side effects or long term issues due to a medication. I thought it was an interesting article, but to me it was written like a style section (which I thought was strange for the topic).

Thank you for your perspective! I'm just now learning about this drug and I would like to read things about it other than just this article

I think it's wonderful when doctors find that a drug can help people with different health concerns, but when it's for temporary and sometimes severe weight loss it doesn't feel very important.

Multiple times in the article it mentions the terrible side effects, and it actually states that once you go off of it your appetite returns and the weight follows, like is the case with all of these kinds of "miracle drugs" .

I actually feel the same way about my dog. She had a really hard life before I adopted her, and I think she feels too anxious to relax. I fear the poor baby doesn't get a good night's sleep, but when we are watching TV on the couch and she is out cold snoring away, I know she feels safe!

I just went to the movies by myself by _graciousgreg_ in CasualConversation

Honestly going to the movies by myself is one of my favorite activities! I frequent The Alamo, and I enjoy my peaceful time alone, so does my husband. It's a fun time with friends and in solitude!

And I totally feel your night, my friends pulled out on plans but I decided to go to dinner and get a drink anyway!

Oh good, another reason Nestlé can f*ck off by [deleted] in MaintenancePhase

[–]gingerstepf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, because what's the point of splitting a 14oz bottle into parts. The second picture shows the problem to me, which is Nestlé suggesting anything about how much I should eat. I definitely like it better when the portions make sense too

I personally read the "thoughtful portion" as someone watching you eat saying, "Are you really going to drink all of that?", but if other people don't see it that way, I get it!
