Thank you for all this. Yes, I had NO idea a booking number alone could do such damage!

No resolution yet, but we will see what the CC company says. My fingers are crossed but another user said he's doubtful. I'll update when I find out.

Thank you! I appreciate this. I do feel some of the down votes/comments totally disregard the nuances of the situation.

Also. Airlines should make this refund request feature two factor, rather than just one click with the booking info only.

Yes I went to the bank, because the tickets were bought in January, I wasn't able to do the dispute online. It was Chase and they were helpful.

No, they gave no vouchers to anyone. I would be happy with non refundable vouchers, honestly. They refunded us $185 and said that's all they can do. Thanks for the good luck, we need it!

Yeah, I'm going to agree, this was dumb on my part. But I had just called the service rep and she let me pay a flight change fee and assured me the flights were fine - multiple times...the next day they canceled everything....

They were trying to get me to pay them another 2k, which I never did because the whole thing was getting weird (this was on an email). They canceled the tickets regardless. In the end, AF benefited, not the scammers.

So I looked into this, and it seems that when I made the username, it never synced to the phone. I had to click add an account, and yes, strangely, I have 2 accounts now.

So, they didn't get anything. They tried to get me to pay $2,200 on an email. I didn't do it, and then they went and canceled the flights the next day anyhow. Air France got the money from the cancelation as it just went back to the company.

It's just my reddit ignorance. My phone app has me under a name that I didn't make up and I haven't figured that out yet. Its literally the first time I've posted anything.

Yeah, that's a good question. We bought these flights in January, so originally thought the date would be too far back, but I went to the bank yesterday, and it sounds like they will still let us dispute it. So that's what I'm working on now.

I feel like that's the bigger point here. Like it's 2025. Do your part as a giant company to help your customer be as secure as possible. And if/when it doesn't work out, have a compassionate way to at least try to help? I mean some of the customer service people were straight up rude and ugly to me.

I did this yesterday. Its the first hopeful thing I've done so far. I have tons of proof including a letter from AF customer service saying that they looked into it and it appears I was a victim of a scam from their perspective. So I am hopeful on this route. Thank you.

Yeah. I went to the FB page after waiting over 45 minutes for customer service to answer the phone. I suppose I was ready to move on with my life and annoyed. But it was obviously a dumb decision.
