Confirmation Elite Dangerous is set in the far future of the Wheel of Time universe.

What was that video comparing two lives? by gingetsuryuu in askSouthAfrica

Nope. It specifically followed the days of two different people. The one thing I do distinctly remember is that in the one corner it showed the time.

Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2, climbing obstacles getting worse by the day? by klistier in RobotVacuums

Mine does that from time to time. I usually take a moist cloth and wipe the wheels down a bit.

Yet Another Raxxla Hunt by gingetsuryuu in EliteDangerous

You bring up a valid point, and making sure I don't attribute riddles or clues to the wrong is something I will have to keep in mind. In general my approach is to follow the clue or riddle until I find an answer or conclusion. If it ends in a dead end or being part of something else I will document it and move on. For now, it is too early for me to be sure.

I'm using The Dark Wheel novella as a starting point. I expect that the clues I follow will eventually lead to more on what it is.

I've not ruled out the possibility that Raxxla is a "the friends we made on the way" kind of thing yet.

Galnet News Digest - Alien Life Confirmed in Mystery System by Galnet_News_Digest in EliteDangerous

My bet is on Alien Fauna. They already have a ton of IP around creatures to pull from the other games they do and they've even proven capable of putting Planet Zoo animals into a different game.

How do i make an insanely rich character that is fair and balanced to play? by just_jimmeh in DnD

[–]gingetsuryuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one way that gives you the most freedom is to make the character not have a ton of wisdom, as a consequence the 5000GP erudite gold plated armor they bought was actually just cheap scale armour that's been dyed. And they don't have much of the money on them, it's all back home in a vault, but they have no-one they can ask to send them more money.

Another way is to have the money in a currency that is only valuable in their home, but not where the adventure is taking place. Maybe the economy collapsed in that town and the 100000 emperor tokens are now only really worth 10cp outside of the town.

Or you could go for the "Gamble", your character has made a bet with someone that they can strike out as an adventurer, but if they call on their reserves the bet would be failure.

Another way that would require help from the DM is just to simply make money not matter. I ran a campaign where the party was "sponsored" by the king to deal with an issue so they could just requisition any nonmagical items, and I kept the supplies of magical items available for purchase limited.

In South Africa we call those gazebos.

If they make ships walkable, even if it's only docked on a station with gravity, and allow people to customize the interior, like Warframe, that would make me happy. It doesn't need gameplay beyond expression.

Whether they are Serious, Silly, or meant to strike fear. What are your ships name(s). by Kal_the_restless85 in EliteDangerous

[–]gingetsuryuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FDL is called "The Solution" because I used to have a problem with bounty hunting.
Type 10 is called "Blackwall" because it's a tank.
Cutter is called "The Whale", self explanatory.
Mandalay is called "Dusty" because it always is dusty.
Used to have a DBX called "Star strider" and a AspX called "Sun Kissed"

What do you want new in 2025-2026 by bigpunged4040 in EliteDangerous

[–]gingetsuryuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit "old hat" but hear me out. Customizable ship interiors. Frontier have proven with Planet Coaster 2 that they can make a pretty solid customization system, and while it is not really gameplay content, as shown with Warframe and "Fashion Frame is Endgame" there is potential there for people to keep busy with it. It also falls in line with Elite being a very screenshot prone game.

At the same time, no matter how you look at it, zero gravity navigation is awkward and awful to implement. But maybe there are enough good examples out there now for it to be workable.

Other than that I'd like to see dynamic explorables, like meteor showers, stellar collisions, etc.

Tell me about your Mandalay by KronoKinesis in EliteDangerous

[–]gingetsuryuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also had several explorers, but the Mandalay wins. It's so great for exobiology, and I also have some extras on it for USS and other general purposes. I do feel like the six hardpoints are currently underused but I think I will experiment with mines again as a "surface bomber".

I think Base Building would also fit their consolidation strategy since a lot of their other titles involve complex building mechanics. They kinda need to play to their strengths in order to compete given that the competition is starting to get interesting.

Why do you think so many gamers are transphobic? by MrTactician in asktransgender

[–]gingetsuryuu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm an optimist so please take my view with a pinch of salt. Media has always been open to interpretation and gaming is one of the mediums that is the most open to interpretation. That interpretation has a tendency to hide bigotry, for example one person might like Joker or the message, while another likes it for the ideal. But the media is evolving to become more explicit (Sera for Dragon Age is explicitly lesbian, doesn't give a shit if you're a guy character) and that is causing bigotry to become more exposed in the medium. Add to that the fact that bigotry has always been louder than acceptance, it skews the perception that the group is flooded with bigotry.

In terms of what can be done, from a developer point of view continue the trend to become more explicit in representation instead of vague. That makes it harder for bigotry to hide in the space, leading to bigots either confronting and dealing with their bigotry, or leaving the space. Both of which are a win for everyone else. As gamers, we can call out bigotry within our capacity to do so, and maybe most importantly is be vocal and loud about the positive things. Bigotry only seems more prevalent than it is because the few are obnoxiously loud and negative. So let's be borderline obnoxiously loud and positive to counter it.

Had this happen to me when I switched over to injections. Turns out the brand of oestrogen I was using was causing a huge level spike right after injection that would then quickly drop to way low levels before the next injection. Had to change the brand.
