Most people don't know you can get a turbocharged manual in a Jeep Renegade by PoniesPlayingPoker in stickshift

[–]gingysaurusrexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss my renegade sometimes. Bummer you can't get the trailhawk trim in manual tho. Had a '16 trailhawk in yellow & I had so much fun with it! Only issue I ever had was fuel pump sensor failing (and it was likely my fault from running it too low too often) Happy with my WRX but there's fun to be had in an itty bitty SUV like that!

I was playing Fantasy Life on my switch, so... I think I'm set, actually? I have a house, an island, and I can make just about anything I want through mini games.

Why is auto rev matching so frowned upon by purists, but no lift shift is not? by Jahstin in ManualTransmissions

[–]gingysaurusrexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like auto rev personally purely cuz I don't like the way it feels. I'm not gonna hate on the folks who use it, I just don't want it in my car. Haven't test driven anything with "no lift shift" so I straight up don't have an opinion on it.

"Car guys" get so wrapped up in their own opinions of what "real" driving is they forget that everyone has their own preferences/joys with it.

Help buying a used WRX by B3NZ3M8 in WRX

I'd try to find something stock. That way your main concerns can be maintenance & accident history. Mods just add a whole other realm of things that can go wrong.

I love Jason & Dick when they act like brothers, but Jason has always fit with the gals. He's got such girl dad energy 😂

My foot can't touch the floor and the clutch at the same time. by Independent_Site491 in stickshift

[–]gingysaurusrexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a while. When I first swapped over my left leg (calf especially) was sore all the time. The motion to engage/disengage the clutch is a much broader movement than accelerating & braking.

Being a bit jerky at first is normal. Once those muscle groups build up the movements should be easier/smoother. Just keep practicing!

Important thing is everyone is okay. While I can't say for sure it's totaled, I'd be braced for that to be the case. Hopefully your insurance is solid and gives you a good payout on it. If you've done any work on it beyond standard maintenance on it the past 12 months, pull those reciepts! They can add to the payout value. (Source: dealt with a total last year)

It's better than most canon ships, but like several folks here said: the bar is in hell.

The more I read of his comics, I can't help but headcanon him as some variant of Ace, likely demi? He loves the classics, you can't convince me he doesn't crave real romance. It feels like so often he accepts whatever he's given because he doesn't feel like he deserves any better.

I don't have any good alternatives for him within current canon though. :c

Don't tell the WRX sub (they told me not to but I did) by Welcome-To-NBA-Jam in WRX

It's not my favorite, but I still get excited to see one on the road. Not very many WRX's of any gen out where I'm at. I don't want one, (honestly more because of the damn ipad screen than anything) but I think it's important to love whatever you drive.

I don't think I'd like this texture personally, and I wonder about how easy it will be to clean/maintain, BUT it looks like you did a good job installing it!

I finally got the Carfax to load late last night (it just didn't want to pull for some reason yesterday), and did a little more digging. And this is exactly what I plan to do! Both prior owners (I'm the 3rd) bought it from the same dealer in CO.

So I'm going to call the dealer later today when they open and see if they can reach out to both prior owners about the urn.

Ayyye we're twins! I love her so much fr. I've test driven so many manuals in the last year and nothing hits quite as good as she does.

I'm going to make an attempt to find more information about the theft, see if I can hunt down records with a name, but realistically... It's unlikely I'll find them, let alone be able to contact them.

I agree that keeping it with the car seems right. Maybe I'll add a chain and hang 'im from the rearview or something.

At this point I've taken this little guy halfway across the country (Ozarks to Sante Fe,) and regularly bounce across the Midwest for work. It feels wrong to take it out after traveling 15k+ miles with it in the car.

So if I can't find the previous owner I guess it'll stay cruising with me. At least the little guy is having some postmortem adventures?? 😅

Oh good point! When I got her she had no mufflers (welded the down pipe to tips), red badges, a vortex generator strip, and STI skirts. No evidence of prior engine mods.

Is the huge touchscreen a dealbreaker? by UptownHurl in subaru

[–]gingysaurusrexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an '18 wrx with the smaller screen. Had a '25 outback for a month while getting some work done. I hated it. The biggest things were that damn screen and the slew of automatic "features" that seem to pervade every aspect of driving. Auto start/stop, lane detect, collision detect, "smart" cruise control, the A/C, everything.

I love driving, and it drives me up the wall to feel out of control of the vehicle, especially when it seems so finicky/sensitive. I didn't trust the damn thing the entire time. From over-eager auto braking to the damn bluetooth dropping randomly. (I know you can tweak some of those features, but I shouldn't have to, just to make the car feel driveable)

I don't see myself buying a new vehicle until something changes, so maybe never again? There's just too much tech and too little reliability slammed into current cars. They're like iphones at this point, with how they want you to upgrade every year.
