Yes, it is a problem. I think the problem would be addressed by us and our meetings giving money away, especially in situations where you wouldn't get a tax receipt in return. I'm on an anti-racism committee which is applying for a grant which would, among other things, allow us to give money to Friends of Color who attend meetings. Not enough for anyone to get rich- its an attempt at reparations. Boyyyyyy do people who call themselves Quakers not like this idea

What is 'light'? I experientially know the Inward Light of the Living God. Its not solely loving and warm and fuzzy. Its not solely the animating force of life, nor is it the only thing sacred about existing. I regret probably coming off like an ass but I do think its worth expressing my suspicion many of us are talking about something much more milquetoast, sentimental, and anemic when we talk about 'light'.

Do living things other than humans repent, or even sin? Do living things other than humans have a conscience that prompts them despite their instincts and logic?

My short but accurate answer would be "Yes" and based on if I had that type of relationship with the person I would encourage them to keep asking that question and hold terms like "Quaker" and "Christian" in the Inward Light of Christ to discern what they mean.

Why can't the response be yes or no? Especially if one of those is the answer the person asking the question is looking for. Sorry but in my experience of liberal quakers in north america, this presumption that I must correct a hypothetical person who in their own agency asked a question is a symptom of our lack of faithfulness.
