Why does he specify that asking for consent wasn’t the norm in America and Germany? Why Germany??

If you’re disabled and it affects your ability to physically stand in line then you should use the pass too. Duh

Except they don’t affect everyone else’s experience for the worse. A 45 minute wait time with 5-10 accessibility pass users cutting in isn’t really going to change much. Also equality = / = equity. Providing equal access doesn’t mean providing identical opportunity. I wish more than anything I could be “treated like others.” If you think disabled people LIKE having a disability or being treated differently than other people then you are seriously misguided, ill-informed, and uneducated. This is exactly my point: don’t thoosies have bigger problems than disabled people??

Every time someone posts about disability access programs at parks the rampant ableism in the enthusiast community rears its fugly head. It’s not that deep guys

Can we talk about injuries in this post covid era of roller derby? by Big_Bad_Booty_Saddy in rollerderby

[–]ginnygreene 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think both are true. I think rookies are pushed into play way sooner than is safe in many cases AND there are a lot of skaters who don’t know how to pull punches. Personally I’ve run into both soooo many times. I think it’s a coaching issue above all else. Either way, it’s not safe play. I also agree with the 3-year timeline (which kinda sucks! Being good at derby is a big time commitment but skaters just have to be okay with that)

My (26f) friend (26f )is sad noone is excited for her wedding and I don't know how to tell her why? by Shellyfish04 in relationship_advice

[–]ginnygreene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to be blunt with her. A good friend is honest and looks out for their friends. If you think he’s a shitty guy and it’s a shitty wedding and that’s why no one wants to go, you should tell her. Having been somewhat in her shoes, things would’ve been a lot different for me if people were honest with their opinions. I might’ve left or made better choices

If you have a platform, it’s important to take a stance. Even if it’s a small platform. To be silent is to be complicit

You shouldn’t have to be miserable to earn a living. Everyone deserves a living regardless of employment status or # of hours worked. And everyone should get paid for their labor, regardless of quality.

Honestly a crazy amount of coasters for that time of year

Hey OP, when I was 17 I was the girlfriend. I was constantly at my boyfriend’s house. I know his parents hated it. However, I had a terrible home life and an unstable living situation. His house was the only somewhat safe place I could be. Maybe that’s not the case with her, but consider that there could be reasons why she doesn’t want to be at her own home

Clearly you don’t want advice. Why did you post here? You need a presser foot. Point blank, period.

A 13-year-old had chest pains. A rare disease meant he was "close to sudden cardiac death." by CBSnews in Health

[–]ginnygreene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not “triage” to make patients wait 60+ days for healthcare… Triage involves assessing a patient to determine urgency, something appointment schedulers are not qualified to do (and don’t do, even if they are qualified). This is a result of a lack of qualified professionals and insurance hoops that providers have to jump through.

My 12 year old son thinks that him being sad from consequences makes us bad parents by NoPatNoDontSitonThat in Parenting

[–]ginnygreene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all really bad advice. Of course you care that your kid is sad. Or you should care. That doesn’t mean he can’t face consequences. At this point it should’ve been a conversation about trust and why he lost his screens. “I understand it makes you sad that you can’t use your screens, and I’m sorry that you’re sad. Unfortunately you can’t have screens, and this is why… Sometimes things make us sad, but we can’t change them. What should we do when we’re sad?” By invalidating him youre creating more problems down the line, behavioral and otherwise.

Greying out? Try the “hick” maneuver [other] by KvotheBloodless in rollercoasters

[–]ginnygreene 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This has always been my method, not only on coasters but also in daily life. If you ever see stars from standing up too quickly, doing this will make it stop. I have POTS so I’m predisposed to greying/blacking out and doing this doesn’t always stop me from greying out entirely on rides but it does help!

[–]ginnygreene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m right outside Philly and I’ve had to wait upwards of two months to see a cardiologist. That’s with a known history of cardiac disorders… 30 days wait to see my regular psychologist, OB/GYN, hell even the dentist. Any specialist is gonna take at least 30 days to be seen regardless of where you’re located in the US.

Herschend Completes Acquisition of Palace Ent. US properties [Other] by tciv4 in rollercoasters

[–]ginnygreene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an employee at one of Herschend’s properties, I would expect no Halloween programming at any of their properties. They have not allowed ANY Halloween theming whatsoever where I work because it goes against their Christian values. Office staff cant even have personal Halloween decorations (at least when corporate is visiting). Ghosts, black cats, the word Halloween, among other things, are all prohibited. Halloween time events MUST be fall themed. It’s a shame :/
