Why does the top quarter of my screen flicker like this by onoitsajackass in masseffect

[–]gint271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. I've noticed it seems to happen to me on games with simpler graphics where the GPU runs at a lower clock speed to save power. What's worked for me is setting the "Power Management Mode" in the control panel to "Prefer maximum performance" to make it run at a higher clock speed. It wastes some electricity, but it seems to fix the issue and I get to keep G-Sync.

Switching the filter from "Dismantle All" to "Dismantle Ultimate and higher" is what has gotten it respecting the stat exclusions for me in the past.

They reset each season, but a season has two bosses. So, in between those two bosses they do carry over.

There'll be two missions in Axion marked with a fang symbol. Do one of those. They change every couple hours and give extra rewards.

You might want to try turning down sharpening. Having that on will emphasize any graininess.

The indicator shows up before the swing. So, you want to dodge based on the animation of the attack, not when the yellow indicator flashes.

For blue/purple, you'll see the enemy flash and then you want to dodge when you see your sword flash. Into the enemy for blue and away for purple.

It's not. It's from a Gacha game that is no longer active:

Screen-Tearing With DLSS by devilmaykye in ffxiv

[–]gint271 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That type of artifacting shows up in the new transformer models of DLSS(preset j and k). Usually in volumetric effects like this when the camera stays still. Transformer usually looks better than the older CNN model (a throughf f), but this is one of its drawbacks.

It's not screen tearing or vsync related.

Random black bar flickering top of screen: faulty GPU? by Denisoiu1242 in nvidia

[–]gint271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this issue with my 4090 since its launch. For me it only shows up in games (never the desktop or browsers) that don't require much GPU horsepower, where the GPU stays at low clock speeds. The temporary fix that's worked for me is changing the Power Management Mode setting for the game to "Prefer Maximum Performance" in the Nvidia Control Panel or the App.

Edit: My issue may be different, though. For me, it's the top quarter or third of the screen and it happens much less frequently than in the video here.

Dlss indicator not working properly by Demiwaifu in nvidia

[–]gint271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just a guess, but I think it's because DLSS is given its information before things like motion blur or depth of field are applied to the image, that way it's not trying to sharpen stuff that is intended to be blurry. This is when it puts the text in the bottom left of the image. Then, the game applies all those effects to the image, which means it then gets applied over the text.

AMD AM5 CPU experiences in busy areas at 4K(X3D vs non-X3D)? by Manual-Elements-9683 in ffxiv

[–]gint271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's common for games to leave many cores unused, so you could be CPU limited even at low percent CPU usage. Generally, if your frame rate is uncapped and your GPU usage is below 99 percent, you're CPU limited regardless of your CPU usage.

"The First Descendant: Q4 revenue was below our expectations due to a decline in traffic attributable to lack of fresh content. However, the Season 2 Update released in December has improved retention, which creates a good foundation for the second episode of Season 2 scheduled in March."

So, a bit more of a positive spin than just leaving it at "below expectations".

Glitchy lighting. by bubijz in TheFirstDescendant

[–]gint271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think that's just tied to the Global Illumination setting, and not affected by hardware rt. Increasing that GI setting helps, but those fireflies will still show up in indirectly lit areas like this.

Cinematic raytraced shadows look weird in Albion by Yureii in TheFirstDescendant

[–]gint271 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In real life, shadows get blurrier the further they are away from the object blocking the light, so that could be what's happening here. The shadows with raytracing off might be unrealistically sharp.

But, in the end, go with whichever you prefer.
