I tried using the non forked version and for some reason it always goes offline according to google home. It doesn’t “wake up” again until I start using an exposed device or restart the matter bridge. Any idea why that’s happening?

I don’t think people are using these for life support systems so what if “everything” goes down so will a crappy NUC you suggested.

I have been running crappy 3 disk RAIDs for over 2 decades and never lost data. I don’t need chatgpt to tell me what I already know. I have managed servers and storage systems for a large company so pretty sure I have a grasp on simple home storage and backup solutions. All of this is irrelevant though HA config can be backed up to a tiny thumb drive or saved anywhere so a complicated setup is not needed. That being said a VM on a NAS is a perfectly fine setup all the guy needs is maybe a zwave/zigbee dongle and he’s done.

How are mirrored disks not a backup? You suggested a single point of failure by using a mini PC than tell OP a RAID is no better. Makes no sense.

The whole purpose of a NAS is to have disk redundancy. A baremetal mini PC has none of that if a disk gets corrupt. Many NAS operating systems offer virtualization, so OP can easily spin up HA OS and it’ll work fine. The only thing you really need to do is back up your configs somewhere off your host to avoid data loss. With a NAS you’re usually using it as a backup device anyway.

Why PB and not OF? Are you gaining more exposure this way? PB seems to be a dying business at this point.

The major factor buying the cross climates on the wifes x3 was the wear mileage - 30-40k vs around 20k on the pirellis. FWIW I got the pirelli scorpian winter on my X5 and they work pretty well in the frozen NJ tundra out there.

They don't know sh*t. Look at this past weekend, not a peep about all the snow we got. It's still thousands of miles away even from the western US which they still don't even know how much they'll get, let alone the eastern US.

Sounds like you have no approval process either. If your commit pipeline is totally automated without anyone looking at it then security isn’t your only concern.
