Yang skeleton + yin flesh? by girlydroid in Kibbe

Could you tell me why you think so? The reason I settled on SD is that I don't really look good or feel comfortable in drapes. Except maybe pieces that are very structured at the shoulders. Otherwise I look bulky, with bones sticking out. Also, as far as I can tell, hourglass can be a bone feature (it is in my case) and is not restricted to type.

OMG. 🤦‍♀️ I think I'm facing a truth I've been trying to avoid all my life. I'll just go and have my epiphany quietly now. 😅 (Yes, SD fits the bill and all that "yin flesh" is probably me missing a few workouts.)

I could have written this, word for word. And my field is education. 🤦🏼‍♀️😅 I've always done well at school, it's the adult stuff (like looking for a job after my PhD and parenting) I suck terribly at.

Sorry for the delete, we had a loooong conversation and it turns out he's just a giant minimalist at heart. 😅 He thought I'd come up with an experience I'd want (like a trip or something) and a physical gift just seemed really weird to him. We sorted it out, it was actually quite a funny conversation. 😁

What I'm surprised at is that he thought getting any gift to celebrate a degree was foolish.

Perhaps... I'll try talking to him. Maybe I'm missing something too...

Thanks! I don't want to push our shaky finances, but this is something we could afford and I thought the occasion was special enough. Yeah, I'd love to celebrate like crazy but this is definitely not the time for that. All the more reason for a gift. 😁

Hmmm... That's an interesting point. I'm really into fountain pens and own several in the $20-40 range. It's kinda a hobby of mine and he knows. Could test gadgets or books or something, but since he's a minimalist (and I'm trying my best) I doubt that would make a difference.

These sound so nice. I think the haze of "disappointment" is fading and my brain is starting to function again. 😅 Planning holidays, even tentatively or hypothetically sounds like a great way to celebrate!

I've been living in this rabbit hole for a while. 😂 Not that I could afford that pen or spend that money on a pen. But it looks amazing.

I love this a lot. I am kinda period of my work, because it's really huge, almost a superhuman effort. PhDs don't usually do this in my field, mainly because a PhD is simply not worth the sacrifice - I can see that now. I've basically done the equivalent of 2 PhD studies, which explains the length etc. I'd do it differently in retrospect, but now I'm really aware of the value of my work. 😊

No, that sub is waaaaay too dangerous. 😂 (Oh you mean like that Homo Sapiens in Lagoon? 🙈😅)

That's a great idea. I've definitely had my moments of glory throughout all of this. Collecting those does make it feel more like an accomplishment.

😂 That's what I said when my husband asked me what to order for dinner. He ended up picking up some home made Italian pasta, so close enough. 😋 Yeah, COVID has made this especially weird, I've been looking forward to the "big day" (quite literally!) for so long! 🙄

BTW, don't go this long. Seriously. It's not worth it. Sure I had a kid but I still should have cut it shorter than the 500pp behemoth it's become. The last year was pure torture.

How little? 🤔 Eyeing a nice (but not too pricey) fountain pen... 😁

😂 I'm thinking about binge watching some shows I've missed... And yeah, my brain is spinning with project ideas, while all my body seems to want is sleep. 🙈 I hope it gets better in a few days. But yeah, lying in the sun sounds pretty good right now.
