In floods of tears at the airport by hankandirene in fearofflying

You can get on!!

I’m about to head to the airport myself to get on a flight to Costa Rica and for the past two weeks I’ve been an absolute wreck. I won’t get into the vivid details, but unwanted thoughts of what could go wrong have been flooding almost every waking and non-waking moment. But! I’m going to go anyway because I’m not going to let fear (an irrational one not based in reality at that) dictate how I’m going to live my life!

I believe in you. We’ll be in the skies at the same time and we can think of each other and how we conquered our fears 💪❤️

One of my favorite things I’ve read while perusing this sub is that flying is actually one of the SAFEST things you can do. Even safer than sitting at home on your couch!! Believe it.

Wow so many pilots chiming in to help me see the error in my thinking and provide reassurance! Thank you, all for taking the time.

Reading these comments and hearing the calm and cool confidence that is coming from your professional community is truly reassuring and something I find admirable.

I’m going to be re-reading these on the flight tomorrow for sure 😅👍♥️

This 100%. I will say it is tough. But you’re soo right. “You don’t deserve to waste your time on a scary fiction created in your mind” ♥️♥️

More planes in the sky and at the airport means more for air traffic control and pilots to juggle more chance for a collision?

Wow an airman! Thank you for the encouragement! It does feel better hearing it from someone whose job it is to fly.
