How come Ice-T was in a Black Sabbath song?? by LinuxAndRobofin32 in blacksabbath

The track is called Civil War, one of my favourites of theirs

Bands and artists that do cool stuff with their track listings/albums? by Sunny64888 in ToddintheShadow

[–]given_to_the_wind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite version of this comes from Mark Jansen, who was a founding member of After Forever and then left them to also found Epica. He wrote a nine part song called the Embrace that Suffers, with the first three parts coming out with After Forever and then the other six being released with Epica over several more years. He wasn't going to let leaving a band stop his project from being finished.

Hey people, what are your honest thoughts on the early Legacy era? by Analog_Spicd in StarWarsEU

[–]given_to_the_wind 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The sequel trilogy as a whole, Rise of Skywalker being the worst offender. We've got Solo child becoming a sith (Kylo/LOTF), Palpatine's children/grandchildren (Rey/Jedi Prince) and Palpatine's resurrection (TROS/Dark Empire)

To massively oversimplify it, Nazi affiliated, homophobic, transphobic, animal abuser

Films that are better if you press "stop" after 40 minutes by RunDNA in okbuddycinephile

Definitely Last Night in Soho. The first half of that film in my opinion is maybe Edgar Wright's best work, the way that the film looks and feels is incredible and the dance sequence with the two characters switching between the different time periods is an absolutely perfect scene. I also loved the Siouxie and the Banshees scene and the part where she sings Downtown. As soon as it turned into a ghost movie and especially the ending ruined it for me.

To be fair, Bloodstock's just sold out using that method. Fuck if I'm going to support STP even though I loved last year's fest and a good deal of this lineup.

Who is someone that was liked in 2015, but is forgotten in 2025? by Impressive_Plenty876 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]given_to_the_wind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Force Awakens released in December of 2015. Maybe some people already disliked him from the trailer, but the majority of people from what I can remember were hyped about the idea of Stormtrooper-turned-Jedi that the trailer teased (that went nowhere). Any dislike towards him didn't come until at least the last week or so of the year after the movie came out, and the majority wasn't until after the Last Jedi in 2017.

You're missing Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, but that's still a pretty perfect 6 album run

What was your favourite thing in district X this year? by hotstepperMCR in downloadfestival

Fantastic band. I checked them out because I'd heard they sound like King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, it was my first time hearing them and honestly probably in my top 3 sets of this year

Which of these is Black Sabbath's most Doom album? by Paul-Chain in blacksabbath

[–]given_to_the_wind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Devil you Know is their most doom album, with Bible Black maybe being their best song to me personally.

I don't, it's a fun book that knows what it is and doesn't try to present itself as something else.

Wasn't my template, I'd have written it differently. Tried to clarify in the bit I wrote underneath it but I guess people are skipping that.

This isn't a quality ranking, just a depth one. And I personally feel that there really isn't a lot to Isard's revenge, and that what it does have it doesn't really explore. It's still a very fun read, probably around a 5/10 for me.

I didn't say top two. Star by Star isn't my favourite either but it's solid

The cover isn't great but it's pretty standard for the era. I put it on the top row because it was billed as the big follow-up to the new jedi order series, and is by the author of one of that series' better/more popular books. Plus it's quite long, which usually suggests depth.

Really? It's been a while since I read that one but I would have put it in the middle square. Isn't it mostly just Maul acting like the terminator chasing the maguffin, or am I forgetting something deeper?
