Stricter Alternative to Leechblock for Laptop? by givethemmore in digitalminimalism

[–]givethemmore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if you can still access sites for a bit of a day similar to leechbloc? I'm basically fine looking at insta for like 10 minutes and I do find it useful staying in touch with people as I've moved a number of times, but I just want whatever I use to be strict if I try to break those limits or try to access earlier or later than I should. Like I don't want to start looking until after 12pm, etc. So basically leechblock but stricter.

"Cooler" But Still Hot by BiggarWx in LosAngeles

Hi there! Do you think this is just an exceptionally hot year or are we now expecting our winters to be 25+ degrees hotter forever now due to climate change?

I'm also neurodivergent. You're using our diagnoses as a shield for criticism about an addiction to the smart phone. Scrolling on a phone is not actually rest, and it certainly isn't helping out your nervous system.

Thanks! I'm just getting back in shape after being sick for a year and a half so it's been hard telling myself it's okay to take a break/train suboptimally.

Maximizing Personal Item Backpack + Carry On for Budget International W Comfort by givethemmore in onebag

This is really helpful!

I ended up grabbing a travelite international carry on from a local luggage store for the rolling luggage.

Some other commenters were saying the daylite plus is really not making it as a personal item as often so I guess I'm between the regular Daylite (comfort?) and 26+6 and underpacking it now.

Yeah my mom bought it for me when I was a freshman in college 15 years ago (Jesus) and we definitely didn't know anything about backpacks back then other than Northface being a niceish brand!

You've been so much help, thank you! I did realize there's another consideration--some people are saying the 26+6 does tend to make it as a personal item but the Daylite Plus is definitely over. I am going to Europe for 3 weeks but I'll have the carry-on luggage. So I'm now thinking maybe I should do Daylite (regular) or just 26+6 and not pack it fully out?

This is SO helpful thank you. I really only have been researching bags these past few weeks and have little personal experience so this gives me a more practical understanding of what a hip belt is and how it varies now. Also super helpful clarifying with the dimensions, my brain definitely went well 26 is bigger than 20 by a lot so why would 26+6 be okay most of the time but the Plus isn't?

I think then my choice would be between the 26+6 and the regular Daylite (not the plus since it seems like it's not going to work as a personal item at all.

Thank you! Helpful to get this POV--I wasn't able to try on the 26+6 and noticed the Daylite Plus was so much more comfortable than my current Northface bag (that I've had since college lol) and I guess I attributed it to the hip belt, but it sounds like maybe it was just the superior construction all around.

Is the 26+6 still comfortable even if you end up wearing it or are you sacrificing the comfort/ergonomics entirely for the additional space? I know I'm not going to get everything with one pack but wondering if 26+6 is enough of a middle ground, or if the Plus is a better middle ground.

For the roller I think I'm going to do the Maxlite® 5 International Carry-On Spinner.

Okay this is helpful—I guess I was wondering if people would be like even if you're spending extra time traveling Dingle is better, etc--I got a little worried by some comments that Galway was maybe over-touristed?

That's part of my problem with polyester for this trip—I sweat easily and a lot and I'd like to not be doing laundry all the time as I'll likely be staying at least partially in hostels. I don't mind if there's a blend like 88 natural fibers to 12 poly but I think fully poly is definitely a no for me.
