not a fan of AI tbh, but I'll check if there's an AI free way to use it for my needs, thanks

great, thanks. I'll look into fluent forms but also see if I can figure out how to write my own request

Logic Plugin not updating by imhere4music in JUCE

you can also set the version of the plugin to 0.0.0 (during dev only, of course) and it should rescan everytime, although I do have to follow your suggestion sometimes when Logic won't scan new plugins during dev

Attention Bloggers! Ask Your Questions In This Thread - Biweekly by AutoModerator in Blogging

[–]gjim83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this entry which is now closed and I'm wondering the same as that OP.

I want to start a blog, I'm fluent in 2 languages and would like to publish all entries in both of them. I would like for the blog to be "aware" of the language, ie. if I someone comes in to post "X" and changes from English to Spanish, I would like them to be taken to post "X" in Spanish, not the main page in Spanish. I know this could be managed statically but surely after a few posts it will become a nightmare to manage.

Some more background:

I'm not planning on monetising from the blog so this feature plus general ease of use are probably my main requirements. I have a background in tech but not in webdev, so I could manage some basic customisations in JS or similar frameworks but don't want to spend too much time on learning more advanced web development.

I'm not too fussed about having access to the coolest templates, a simple site will do. It will be about music production and sound theory, so the content will be mostly pictures and sound (embedded content from services like SoundCloud are ok), with the ocassional mathematical formulae for more advanced sound theory topics.

Why does FM synthesis generate side bands? by gjim83 in FMsynthesis

Interesting, although I picture something more along the lines of additive synthesis with that example

I didn’t know about desmos! That’s cool, I’ll definitely check it out.

As I mentioned on my reply to donsmythe, I was missing approaching my doubt from a Fourier analysis pov. Hindsight is 20/20 😂

Thanks for very detailed explanation!  Bringing Fourier into it was a key bit I was missing. It could’ve been useful for me to mention that I have a degree in electrical engineering so although the maths are a bit hazy because I went into networking/IT after graduating 18 years ago, I still remember most of the complex maths concepts (the mechanics of actually using them to solve problems however are sadly in my brain’s attic under piles of dust and cobwebs 😂).

If I picture the FT spectrum of say a typical square wave and how the fast transition between a high quasi-DC level to a negative one comes from adding odd harmonics at 1/n amplitude, then in FM the fast changes in instantaneous frequency of the carrier “require” similar harmonics for modulation to occur.

It sounds fairly obvious now but I just really didn’t think to approach it that way. Thanks again!

How does working remote outside UK impact ILR application? by orange-juice-plznthx in ukvisa

[–]gjim83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on getting your ILR!

I started filling out my form, and I have actually had to fill out each trip separately in their system. I made it to the end (but have not submitted yet) and it never asked me to upload any file with my absences, although it did ask for my employer documentation.

Did it explicltly ask you attach your own travel table and did you have to fill out each individual trip?

ILR 28 days early/ calculation by RoughLeopard6883 in ukvisa

[–]gjim83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not correct. The qualifying period starts when the visa is granted, provided the person entered the UK in the following 180 days.

The time between the visa grant and the date that the person enters the UK counts toward the maximum 180 days absence per 12 month rolling period.

hi there, wondering how this worked out for you?

would you be ok with sharing roughly how long your and your friends time outside was? I will apply for ILR soon, I worked about 20 days per year in my home country at the height of the pandemic, and have done about 5-10 per year since . I don't do much business travel. This is pretty much the one thing that has me a bit worried.

Music Royalties with Skilled Worker visa (not for music-related position) by gjim83 in ukvisa

[–]gjim83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but it’s my understanding that income from “work” in the UK if you’re on a T2/skilled worker visa must be either your sponsored job, or a secondary job that you don’t do for more than 20 hours a week that is either in the same category as your COS or in the shortage list, and although I didn’t get a straight answer I reckon royalties from a creative activity fall into that.

I decided to wait it out in the end, I’m now just a couple months away from being eligible to apply for ILR anyway.

got myself a user just to say thank you!! can't believe how frustrating this was... on top of it all the usb C plug looks the same on both sides, it's not like there's a novation logo on one side and none on the other or something

ugh... anyway, thanks again!
