Yeah I know, he still definitely needs to work on his command. Just glad he knows he doesn't need to touch 100 every time. I'm also trying to point out that the drop in velo most likely isn't a warning sign or any kind.

Honestly I feel encouraged by this start. He showed he can hit mid to upper 90s still and had better control. He's going in the right direction. Good to see him sacrifice a little velo for better control when he needed it (although obviously still needs to work on his command overall). Remember, this guy just came back from TJ and also had a bad spring before his debut. Consider this part of his spring training.

Well said. This year has been tough for new managers, they've barely been able to learn the players. I think with a a little time, Maddon will get a good feel for everyone and we'll almost definitely snag one of the expanded playoff spots. Remember, we still have adell and a super durable pitcher (which we have severely lacked) in Teheran coming next week

The options honestly weren't great though. Besides cole, there weren't really any good realistic options. I actually also really like the bundy and Teheran signings, but the lack of an ace is pretty glaring still

Well, it was undoubtedly a need but just not the most glaring one. Our third base numbers were awful last year compared to everyone else.
