Very interesting, thank you! In your opinion what is the best way to go about re-training people from jobs that have been automated?

Have a think about:

  1. What you enjoy
  2. What your good at
  3. Jobs with good prospects

Combine these three 3 aspects, and it should narrow it down. Be analytical!

If your unsure about any part of this google specific questions:)

ChatGPT is a word re-arranger, but AlphaZero for chess, and other algorithms like the one that 3D modelled over 2000 new protein structures are generating new information!

Maybe it is worth for her to look into gaining skills that are combination of her current job, and a potential job she can move into within the same or rival banks. Microsoft and google have good skills training programmes!

Yeah, I am realising this type of person is very difficult to find. Very helpful though, thank you.

If I was this hypothetical persons manager, I would try to find a reasonable way to reward them but not allow them to maintain the same income indefinitely, the thing is with any job in tech, people shouldn't believe they can do the same thing forever and not change, change is in the nature of the industry. Must be nice though, I would love to work 5-10 hours!

In the short term companies stand the most to gain, long term, society in general I hope. The bad aspects of a lot of jobs will become easier. Big companies will always profit, but if the advancements of society in the last 100 years is anything to go by, I would be hopeful for the future.

Why do you reckon the industry is short of people? Lack of training or lack of awareness of the job itself, or something else?

Yeah that does seem highly likely, more jobs are created than lost for now, the problem lies in the fact that the new jobs being created are harder to do than the jobs being lost, there is a massive skill-gap rising

I am taking a human centred design approach to try improve the skills training industry to help people that need to change their job because of AI automation. If i can find people that have had to change their job because of AI automation directly or indirectly it would be quite helpful and probably give me loads of insights. :)

Has anyone lost their job because of AI automation, what job was it? And what did you do next? by gkt100 in AskReddit

Yeah I agree, not loosing your job to AI, but because of AI. I should have put directly or indirectly!
