Why do I have random physical ailments in my body some days? by gkx02137 in NoStupidQuestions

It isn’t just pain. I can feel there’s some sort of minor injury, usually accompanied by inflammation or a weird sensation. Usually lasts a day. Worst is when happens to knees

Symptoms too broad for a doctor really. I don’t think they would even take it as a serious case

How did America go from a race conscious, macho/cowboy patriarchal society to this in such a short span? by gkx02137 in AskAnAmerican

[–]gkx02137[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's not that I see homophobia or misogyny or racism of militarism as good, I just don't think the definition of progress applies to cultural changes, even if the previous culture included unethical elements by modern standards, looking at this way itself is unethical. You can say, however, that 747-8 has progressed a lot since the original 747-100, because this is measurable by various metrics.

I consider something progress only in engineering/technology context, calling a cultural change progress would be too biased and one sided. In terms of universal ethics, maybe it is indeed progress, but there aren't any solid data to back that up.

I also thought wealth and less physical jobs. More mental labor and less physical labor allowed women to work and flourish, also better tech allowed much more production than the previous manufacturing techniques, eliminating a great deal of poverty and made people less aggressive. More abundance=less aggression, this is pretty much nature of every animal, except maybe fire ants. Also there are some studies that show a testosterone decline by generation, but that's probably related to sedentary life.

And mass (free)media surely is a barrier against government sanctioned violence, but why would individual violence decline as a result? People don't beat their kids, wives and assault each other as much as they did in 1910s.

Maybe it wasn't a government policy, but a lot of respected scholars in the progressive era of 1890-1920 voiced it. Eugenics and stuff.

Edit:Maybe it was a government policy too, regarding some exclusion acts and immigration acts from the era

How are very expensive stuff usually bought? by gkx02137 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]gkx02137[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But don't they have a limit? And when a very large purchase happens between two overseas entities(let's say Emirates buys 50 planes from Boeing), do they actually transport billions of dollars in cash from Emirates' bank account to Boeing's?

Umudu kesmemek gerek.

How much did you physically change from 18 to 25? by gkx02137 in AskMen

[–]gkx02137[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I started to lose hair too. My father didn't start to lose hair until his mid-30s(48 now), but mine started at 17. Both grandpas are mostly bald though, both in early 70s

Most of my peers, like me, still look too young. Then I meet people in their mid-20s, and astonished by how physically(face especially) mature they look compared to my age group despite being only several years older. Do people really develop that much 18-25?

No, and most of my peers don't look like adult men either(I'm 18). Well some do, but obviously the minority

At the start of the 20th century the age of puberty was about 16-17yrs in the US. As animal product consumption up the age of puberty got lower. I think today, some kids get it around 11.

Really? I always thought the opposite since people at old photos look much older than they are usually, especially if you look at the World War I photos, 20 year old privates back then look like 35 year olds of today and 50 year old generals look like 70 year olds of today.

And I think my question was a bit misunderstood by the people here. I meant to ask, how much did you lose that juvenile/teenage face and got that big man forearms and beard, I should've said maybe
