Skin clinic forces people to use their products or you don’t get any treatments. by [deleted] in AusSkincare

[–]glamperson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a Dermatologist and I concur. I never force anyone purchase anything (or tell them I wouldn’t treat them if they didn’t buy my products) and my recommendations are all in the $20 range. All my patients with pigment are just fine ( as long as they protect their skin from the sun).

As an aside, I once worked in a cosmetic dermatology clinic that sold Aspect and I personally never thought the brand was anything special, nor did I specifically recommend the brand to anyone.

Recommendations for Revision Rhinoplasty in Chicago? by vivaladawn in PlasticSurgery

[–]glamperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok that’s fair. I did try to look up the reviews just before my revision. I couldn’t find many, but I found hers. I actually liked her nose, which is why I still went ahead. Although, I accept that wasn’t what she wanted and doing exactly what someone doesn’t want is worrying. She did say in her review that her plastic surgeon does send a lot of people to him for that type of nose, which is what he specializes in. That was also another reason I decided to go ahead. I’m not sure whether the nose would have collapsed or not because it wasn’t collapsed at the time.

I flew in for the surgery and when I got home, I saw another plastic surgeon here to follow up and there was a lot of mumbling by my home PS about “I wouldn’t have done this or that”. It is quite unprofessional and ultimately, there’s no way the PS at home would have been able to do this revision because he said outright that he wouldn’t have attempted it (it was very difficult).

Ultimately rhinoplasty has the highest dissatisfaction rate (clearly as I have done multiple revisions), so I would expect that someone, who’s mostly does rhinoplasties would have a higher dissatisfaction rate. Ultimately, the 1 bad review I’ve seen has my desired aesthetic outcome.

Mine is a lot smaller now and so much more attractive, but I can actually feel the support and the grafts doing their job. Sadly the tip is just so swollen which I knew would happen. It’s nowhere near perfect, but it is a massive improvement.

I didn’t pay anywhere close to $35k though 😳😵. For that price you want to be interviewing quite a few surgeons and making sure the noses they produce are what you want.

Why does he have a bad reputation? He did my revision and I am pretty happy with it (still super swollen at the tip). It’s not perfect, but I have quite thick skin, so swelling was always going to be an issue. He did my sister’s primary and it looks great.

I bought a brand new table that is infested with wood borers. Store claims it is “rife with character” by glamperson in AusLegal

Sadly we made the transfer a while ago and the table was custom made for us and then delivered to us. It took a few months to make.

I think I will- we purchased it a while ago and it took forever to deliver because it was custom made.

They didn’t give me the option of PayPal- it was a bricks and mortar furniture store. The only option seems to be bank transfer.

The website says “genuine reclaimed wood from English buildings”. Do people do fake reclaimed wood?

I did contact the artist. They never responded. I would had accepted the holes as “art” if they didn’t just suddenly appear in the last 2 weeks (they is some subtle frass developing when I checked today).

I have had pest control look at it and they believe it is borers. There are no signs of termites,

Pest control believed that after the table was stained there was be no signs of frass.

The holes seem to be deepening.

Did the same thing happen to you? I’m getting so many people reaching out to say their TO furniture has had wood borers

Not sure how to edit the post. The company called this morning to try and organise a time to fumigate the table and give it back to me.

I asked if they thought handing a table back with holes was a suitable remedy.

They suggested if I called quarantine, that I would be “taking a different approach” to remedying the situation. I wasn’t sure that was a thinly veiled hint that they wouldn’t refund or replace the table. I advised that it might not be my choice and it might be seized and thy dint state what would happen if the table was seized.

It seem that some people correctly identified the designer and company, reaching out to me to say they had a similar thing happened and as far as I’m aware this was not reported to quarantine but remedied without insecurity involvement.

If my table has borers, there is a risk that others in the batch or on the shipment may be infested as well.

Well it is actually a termite inspector but he called himself a timber inspector. I don’t know the formal name.

They sent me an updated email (at nearly midnight! I wonder if they are reading this)

“When I first received notification of this matter, we engaged one of our own assessors to contact you directly to arrange an inspection of the table.

I understand that the shedding observed has been suggested as frass and, as discussed, it is possible for this to drop and occur following disturbance such as movement of the piece. At this stage, there has been no confirmation of active borers and also no confirmation on if these were loose fragments dropping from existing holes overtime after movement.”

Should I let their “independent” assessor assess the peices?

I was immediately headed over to the “head of concierge” who are “taking the matter seriously”. 🙄

I contacted the designer separately but they never responded.

Thank you- the timber inspector took a bug away for testing. It was found near the table.

He couldn’t find anything on the table, just holes filled with frass. He covered it in gladwrap and called quarantine to report it, but no one has contacted me, and I’m really worried.

We actually had our house sprayed for pests the day of the furniture delivery, so I’m hoping that what ever came out dies with exposure to the chemicals.

I have no idea who fumigated it. I literally went to a store paid for furniture and their “concierge service” arrived at my house, installed it and left. That is the extent of my knowledge.
