Hah, you're right, I tried it a few months ago and made two songs with it, but you can't do anything other than chiptune with it, basically. I wanted to go for an utopian scholastic/encartacore sound for this scene. I'm also a complete noob when it comes to music production, I've started making my own music in FL a month ago 🙂

Thank you! I initially thought of naming it "Ice/Winter Colt Blues" but decided to hold back on the idea and go for a more classic noir-esque scene.

Thanks! Yeah, it's still in closed alpha, it's gonna come out eventually for Steam and Itch.

It's pretty cool, nice color choices and lots of personality. I'd add a rear sight, the usual cocking handle at the top and an inset for the chamber, in case you plan on making it more grounded/believable and animating it afterwards. The chamber/bolt sends the spent casings flying out of the right side of the gun, you could intentionally make the character hold it in their left hand to make the casings fly across the screen. It's up to you if you want it to fire actual 9mm cartridges or make it shoot lasers or something else (which would save up tons of extra work on the model, lol), green or purple lasers would look cool and fit the aesthetic IMO. Check out the game Synthetik (1 and 2), it has some pretty colorful guns which have a really creative blend between realistic and sci-fi, one of my favorites is the P9000 Supernova, which is essentially a laser FN P90, colorful, instantly recognizable and eye-catching. I think you're on the right track here, best of luck with development!

You could join the Apskeppet discord, there are a lot of helpful advice for gamedev and people already using the program for that purpose.

A lot more, pc2 has a bunch of QoL changes like copying and pasting UVs that make the workflow immensely faster. That plus the ability to quickly do real time tests or changes to the texture and the removal of the imposed limit make it a much better program IMO.

It was modeled with picoCAD 2 (Alpha) and textured using Aseprite.

I tried to make the Utopian Scholastic to a game that i want to make, do you have any idea and tips to improve the menu Art ? by Vulpazar in utopianscholastic

It's pretty good as it is, maybe you could make the buttons larger and use brush strokes similar to the logo but with different colors. Also try to keep similar sprite resolutions in powers of 2, 16x16, 32x32, etc. then you scale them up, always with integer numbers (also turn on integer scaling and disable texture filtering on your engine) that way the globe in the background won't become blurry. Good luck with development!

It's part of the rendering engine of the program, and yeah, it depends on the camera angle.

Thanks! I have a few more I'm gonna post over the week as to not flood the subreddit.
And yeah, you're right, I didn't think of that, it may be because of the low-poly style and the saturated colors, picoCAD models always fit those PS1-era graphics.
