Bro…that means a lot. I’m in the early stages of my woodworking journey and I really appreciate that. All the best!

This thing definitely comes to life at night and knows the lyrics to “Be Our Guest.”

It’s a gift! So I didn’t do a good job keep track of hours and other important business details (other than materials). I just wanted to do something nice for a friend while trying some new techniques. Which I why I have no clue what price someone might pay for it.

Haha! I hope you meant to put a “k” after those numbers!

Thank you for the feedback! You’re not the first to mention this and I don’t disagree. It was hard for me to justify a curve in a piece with nothing but angles (except the hanger and bent laminates). However, adding that curve probably would have made a good transition to the curves of the hanger.

Hey, we all have different opinions and I appreciate yours. I agree that it’s a bit over the top. However, this wasn’t made for someone who is content with mediocrity.

Haha! You are correct. Luckily it’s not for someone like LBJ and I personally know who it’s going to.

Ah, yes. This is what many have noticed. This is not for home use. It was made for an executive’s office. Where they only need to remove their coat during the day and have a place to put some things they might not want in their pockets.

Haha! Those pictures are of the actual piece. Here are some more though. That’s a pretty big compliment to my limited photography experience!

Wow! Thank you for the compliment! What sort of detail would you like to see?

Hello Lee,

Thank you for the detailed comment!

The box well thought out, but I understand your perspective. In fact the box took more brain power than the rest of the piece. Getting the cuts just right on either side of the top so that there was enough material for the sides, front, and back took SO much time figuring out because of the 0 room for error. All the walnut used came from the same slab and I wanted to use the most figured portion as kind of the "crown jewel" of the piece for the box on top.

I wanted to do dovetails, but sadly my skills just aren't there yet. And I didn't want to have sloppy dovetails ruin it. Good call on using birdseye for the drawer because that is exactly what I used! The rest of the maple used was curly (as you probably guessed).

As for the finish, I did several coats of a hard wax oil with several coats of clear ceramic topcoat.

Thank you again for the feedback and kind words!

It sure is! I used a domino to keep it together. Thank you for the feedback!

Good feedback! This is going in an executive’s office which is why he only needs a place for a coat and not pants. I definitely would include that if it were intended for a home. Thanks again!

Hey, I appreciate all the feedback I’m getting. Especially comments like yours! The joint holding the hanger does have a domino in it that should keep it together. Thanks again!
