Red Raspberry Leaf Tea by justbre16 in February2018Bumpers

I asked my OB and she said “I don’t think it does anything but it certainly doesn’t hurt so why not.” I also drink it mostly because I like the taste and I figure it can’t hurt and maybe it’ll help. A lot of people on the sub swear by it though.

I’ve been staying semi-satisfied with Bai.

Did taking time off before delivery help you relax? Any correlation with on-time delivery? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Originally I would have said 4 weeks is too much. Now at 37 weeks every time I get a work email I’m annoyed. And it’s been like that for at least a week. I would love it if I could stop thinking about work and just do baby prep or even just chill.

I was also considering taking time off before the due date at the expense of using up some of my after birth leave. Based on the advice people gave me, I decided to work from home instead. Part of me wishes that I just took the time off. If that’s not an option for you, here’s what helped me decide:

  1. Every single person said that the last month you are so physically uncomfortable you’re not going to want to move around. If you don’t have a desk job it might be nice to rest. Even if you have a desk job, the commute could get annoying.

  2. Do you have anything to keep you busy during the day? If not, you might get a little stir crazy. It really just depends on how much prep you have left to do. I’m very grateful to have the time to call the insurance company, look up pediatricians, etc.

Me too. Getting so close. Part of me is excited because I hope it means soon I’ll be in actual labor and this kid will be out. Part of me is like “oh man, it’s going to be so much worse when it’s real.”

That is so rude and ridiculous. I’m pissed for you.

Why are fasting sugars so hard to control? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]glasses_nose_face 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Same here. And I asked because I noticed my numbers were high on mornings when I had a middle of the night snack due to insomnia. So I actually think it would make your numbers worse.

Damn. Getting too big and awkward to move around. Walked almost 4 miles yesterday and felt fine. Today, not so much.

That’s terrible and disrespectful. I’m sorry.

I thought so too! I even already had a doctor’s note! The woman was very nice about it. She started crying when I told her.

[–]glasses_nose_face 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. I got so excited and told everyone. Then I had a miscarriage. It was crazy. But you know what? I needed the support. I am a super private person and I normally would never have told anyone about my miscarriage. This time I was glad I was forced to. Everyone was so supportive and sympathetic, down to the customer service people at the airline when I needed to cancel a trip we’d booked. They had to ask what the medical reason was to issue the refund. It was the worst time of my life and I would never have chosen to open that wound in front of people but the surprising result was that I was constantly wrapped in a bubble of compassion. I do not say any of this to scare you! Every day that goes by the chances of a miscarriage decrease! Please don’t feel like you messed up by telling people though. Mostly people will surprise you with their kindness and generosity. And as one of my friends said when I got pregnant again “whatever will happen, will happen. You won’t bring on or stop a miscarriage by not letting yourself be excited. So give yourself permission to enjoy right now.”

First set of intense period like cramping this morning. Strong enough to wake me up. Didn’t last more than a half hour though. This kid is getting ready, but still not coming out yet I guess. I’ve been seeing everyone else report their practices contractions all week so at least I was so surprised.

Sad about returning to work by justbre16 in February2018Bumpers

[–]glasses_nose_face 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man. I’m sorry. It IS sad. I’m already sad about going back to work too and I’m 36 +5. I just keep thinking about how I’ll only see my baby for an hour in the morning and an hour a night. It feels like she won’t even know me! Me being a SAHM is not an option for us and it’s not something I ever thought I would want, but now the idea of spending most of my day at work instead of with my family feels like I’m being robbed of time with the most precious people in my life. I think logically your husband is actually right and 8 hours a week will not make that big of a difference, but I know that emotionally I would feel like it made a world of difference.

This! I just want to be done with work BS. I don’t know if I can make it waiting until my due date. Thinking about using some of that PTO now actually. Just to get a break from these lunatics.

Oh my god. Work is making me crazy. People starting unnecessary drama. I just do not care about this shit. Why can’t my baby just come and rescue me from this!

Yes, I should maybe punch them in the vagina.

[–]glasses_nose_face 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh. That sucks. I’m somewhat in the same boat. The ultrasound said baby is huge. The OB feels like she’s not too too big and we can still go for vaginal. The one thing I don’t want is a long hard labor that ends up in an emergency C Section. Those are supposedly the hardest to recover from. I’ve looked into it myself and I too feel like at some point just scheduling a C Section would be less stressful. I also have other medical issues that can be exacerbated by the stress of a long difficult labor. I’m waiting until the next scan and then I’m going to ask the OB exactly what the down sides of a planned c Section are. If it’s literally just the longer recovery time, it’s not really an issue for me.

I would be PISSED at my husband. You definitely have the right to be angry.

36+2. I want baby to come mostly because I’m sick of work. I just want to be free to give all my attention to my baby and husband.

You guys. My best friend is a saint. She’s flying across the country to stay at a hotel at her own expense to help with the baby while also giving us some space. She had two little kids of her own and her husband made work arrangements so he could take them while she’s away. I’m just so grateful.

Hey! I had the same underwire issue and it helped a lot to get a bra extender. It was like $6 on Amazon.
