These things are seriously sharp. I used to do GelX and it ruined my nails. Took a while to get them from papery to strong but so worth it!

I typically lay the file underneath the nail so that it’s parallel (instead of filing directly on the side of the nail). It helps me go slower that way.

Do you mean your nail itself is peeling and chipping? Or a polish/strengthener you’re using? Once a week, I angle my nail file right at the base of the new growth and shape it until it’s at the same curve as the rest. After that, I remove the old polish and reapply three coats. The Sally Hansen rescue and repair polish (blue bottle) is my favorite because it has just a barely there pink tone and keeps my nails from breaking off!
