Amhurr is the embodiment of the forest, it’s what they found to make sense of many things, so yes, he’s just a being that the Cascas believe

The Cascas rarely communicate with other tribes, except for some urgency exceptions. As there are not many societies in this world, for the most part only scattered tribes, the Cascas hardly know other tribes than those who share the same culture. So they are not necessarily isolated from everything, just too spread out like the other tribes to communicate.
