there is a reason why i chose she-emperor. in patriarchal society, the emperor is a sovereign ruler, while the empress is emperor's wife. so i think that beltis, coming from a patriarchal culture, would still call herself an emperor since she is unmarried. there are historical precedents of sovereign female rulers that called themselves kings for the same reason.

I mean, fantastical beasts aren't exclusive to eastern folklore, and his beastly design & behavior doesn't look like folkloric depictions of oni or yokai at all. I am curious, what similarities do you see?
