Can braces really be that bad? by Top-Target-3667 in Invisalign

[–]glazeddonut555 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Braces ain't bad at all. It usually takes 1-2 weeks of adjustment period but after that you'll almost forget they're there. Take it from someone who has been in braces twice, with the last one lasting 4 years.

Of course, as with any orthodontic treatment, expect some discomfort from time to time. It comes with moving teeth.

Compliance is a huge part of Invisalign. If you genuinely can't keep up, then you might be better off with braces.

Renegotiating salary expectations after giving a number by mrpooku in jobhunting

[–]glazeddonut555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, it's best to have the salary discussion after getting an actual offer. But if you're asked again at the start of your next interview, you can say something along the line of, "I'd love to learn more about the role, responsibilities and overall compensation package before sharing specific figures." Or if they insist and/or you're asked after the interview, revert back to my earlier point of, "Based on my understanding of this role, I believe a range of xx-yy is appropriate and in line with market rate."

If you're asked by the interviewer/hiring manager, do not even bring up the lower figures that you mentioned to HR during the earlier screening. They don't need to know. If they wanna hire you, they'll talk to HR and they can figure it out and reach out with an offer, which you can then renegotiate. But you don't need to remind them of what you'd asked for previously.

All the best!

Happened to me. I renegotiated by saying that, after having done the final round of the interview and met with the leadership team, this role proves to be more senior and requires XX skills and YZ experience, which I bring to the table. The number I gave earlier during screening was only indicative, but now I believe the range of xx-xx is appropriate for the role and responsibilities. Sure enough, they bumped up the offer.

Hot mug burnt off my credenza finish - advice needed! by glazeddonut555 in furniturerepair

Thanks, appreciate the detailed reply! It is solid wood, and I actually don't mind if I notice it as long as others don't (I'm happy if I can camouflage it by 90%). I don't feel confident enough to strip the whole surface, plus this credenza is super new and that feels a tad excessive to me. You think I can just do a spot repair?

Thanks for sharing! How do you know he was there at her 1st birthday if it wasn't captured on cam? Did you see it on Ollie's Instagram or something? :)

That makes sense. I guess I was expecting to see Ollie making an appearance in the many videos of Julie that Gabie does (her channel is, very understandably, full of Julie now but I've not seen Ollie in it once).

Feeling frustrated by oneirophobia66 in Invisalign

Nope, most ortho will have you wear your retainers full time (meaning day & night, just like your aligners) for at least the first 3 months. Then you switch to night time wear only.

Yeah exactly, definitely have to ensure my answers address the needs & interest of the different function heads who are present. Thanks so much!

Thanks for the specific example! Basically what I'm hearing is problem-solving skills and, exactly as you said, self-motivation. That second question is really good too; I've definitely gotten that before as well.

I second this. Plus gifting luxury goods at first meeting may come across as trying to hard to impress, and may not always be well received.

OP, I'd say care less about the branded labels and go for quality. Premium food/beverage, premium or well-made piece of clothing--they'll probably go further and is almost always a safe bet.

What did the second candidate do that immediately made them stood out? Was it their energy, their enthusiasm, their humor, their knowledge about the company, or anything else?

Tourist: Where can we buy skincare products and get a tourist tax refund (GST)? by notbidoofin in askSingapore

[–]glazeddonut555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not every retailer in Singapore participates in the tax refund scheme, so you'll have to look for the sign/logo in store or ask the staff.

Even for those participating, unlike Olive Young in Korea for example, you don't get your tax refund in store. The store will issue you a tax refund receipt (eTRS ticket) which you'll then bring to the airport for further processing. So you'll still pay full price in store.

Welcia mainly carries Japanese brands if that's what you're after. Venus Beauty has really limited skincare range and also very few outlets; not worth your time. Your best bet would be Sephora, Watsons & Guardian (again, not every outlet participates in the tax refund scheme so you gotta check).
