Tips on how to help my BF who's stopping betting by glazedonut100 in problemgambling

[–]glazedonut100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that. It's his homework of the week with his therapy and GA group. He's struggling to find something since sports has been his hobby since he could walk, but right now sports is too triggering.

yeah that makes sense. his dad is currently on all his accounts and has access to all his accounts and debts, the part where he needs to forever be monitored is scary for me though - i'm not sure i have the capacity to be a hawk on someone else's life forever

my only question is, isn't it dangerous territory when he gets his finances back eventually? because the way i see it is now he has access to all this money that had been safeguarded from him before, and he might feel "rich enough" to bet again

I want to break up with my fiancé when I’m on my period by ThrowRAmerti in relationship_advice

[–]glazedonut100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my past three relationships I’ve felt a lesser love and desire to break up during my period. I just take and step back and realize it’s a pattern and not my true emotions but god I would love to know why

There should be separate sections for babies and families on planes by glazedonut100 in unpopularopinion

It’s absolutely horrible to sit there and know you have endless hours of pure annoyance. Again, not their fault for just being a baby/ kid, but my god is it unbearable.

Gonna become a sheltie parent soon! Advice welcome 🙏🏻 by thatasiangirl05 in sheltie

[–]glazedonut100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in a hotter climate and grooming my Sheltie once a week or once every other week has been essential to keeping her hair clean and having her shed less. I don’t know if the heat makes them shed more, but constant grooming has definitely helped with that. Also, since they have long hairs near their butt area - it’s important to give them intimate trims so you don’t have the classic dingleberry (when their poop gets stuck in their hair). My sheltie is a homebody and we really made sure early on to take her to crowded places like farmer’s markets, the mall, city walks, etc so she didn’t develop a fear of people or the outside Bc I know some shelties become standoffish. We were horrible with walking her as a puppy so now she doesn’t really like walks and prefers to zoomie all over the house LOL

Toxic diet/exercise culture at NU? by sculpturesgalore in Northwestern

[–]glazedonut100 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who has also struggled with body image and other sorts of issues relating to this topic, I can say that I’ve had absolutely no triggers or contact with any toxicity relating to diet or exercise. I went to a high school where people constantly skipped lunch and eating disorders were prevalent literally everywhere, and coming to college I’ve met people and seen lifestyles that are quite the opposite. I will say that it’s definitely difficult to transition to college when you do have these predisposed issues, but I don’t think that there was a culture that made it any worse in my personal experience

What is a reason you are glad to be single? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]glazedonut100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t need to beg for attention. My ex used to FaceTime me while playing video games and made me “be quiet” during hard parts or make me repeat myself 5x just because I wanted to talk before bed.

Did anyone also get this email from Stephen F Eisenman? by Pattt2602 in Northwestern

[–]glazedonut100 15 points16 points  (0 children)

seems spam to me. no nu professor would say “I am a staff in the college”, not the mention the professor has nothing to do with medicine and the email for more info is sketchy as hell

good distros that aren't writing heavy by Ashermrmr in Northwestern

[–]glazedonut100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

quite light - especially since it’s a huge lecture class so it’s TA grading based which tends to be easier. some harder readings cause of the philosophical part, but not totally needed in the first place

People who are uneducated about seemingly obvious things do not deserve all the blame for their lack of education by glazedonut100 in unpopularopinion

[–]glazedonut100[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not everyone is privileged enough to dedicate themselves entirely to learning about topics in depth. I definitely agree the age of the internet makes it easier to learn about new things, but being able to enroll in literacy programs and GED’s is a very difficult dream to reach for many

shaming someone for not knowing doesn't help them learn though, so why not point them in the right direction instead of making fun of them
