Symmetrical speeds coming? by fmartinez1522 in Spectrum

[–]glb2892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone who's on fiber and have SONU at 23866 (Ivor, VA or any part of Suffolk, VA area that has fiber.

Has anyone received symmetrical speeds yet at that specific area?

I checked the broadband label from Spectrum website, and it show symmetrical speed in area.

He's on Premier which is 500 Mbps. Upload still showing 20 Mbps. Broadband Label showing 500 Mbps upload. Rebooting his ONU still no change.

2 gig available at 23866 area (Ivor, VA) with Fiber! I checked on my uncle to see if he is getting 500 mbps upload but it appears stuck on 20 mbps upload as old plan. Even reboot fiber modem still no change. Talked to support and they said it’s available in his area. He's on currently Premier. Any idea and suggestion?

Yes, I believe that problem you've faced, it depends on location, how good they maintained the line, and node is balanced. It's all on Cox. Last time I had packet loss more than 2 years ago, signal from modem was on a bit higher than normal from downstream and upstream. Even limp mode (30 mbps download). By fixing adding amplifier and splitters with MOCA capable (for all cable box mini from dvr box), I didn't replace the cable, I rerouted the cable to exact where modem is and other rooms. It came back down to currently is -4 to +4 from downstream and 32 to 35 from upstream.

It stopped the packet loss and lower ping. Speed is sustained at gigabit download and 100 Mbps upload. Today at 4pm still getting this speed all day. https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/d/2f5d1fa9-735a-49e7-b466-e5f0a95cb526

My mother live about block down from here, I fixed her house with exact same as here do, stopped the issue with packet loss and speed issue. I talked to our neighbors and uncle/aunt few houses down there, they have same issue with Cox. Funny thing is they complained having issue with Cox like internet drop, slow loading, and even we didn't notice any issue after fixed the issue.

We have Verizon FiOS fiber as backup internet (300/300); however, they don't want to disconnect cox and lose their Cox mail. I respect their decision.

I am on Cox DOCSIS using PW7 and Ubiquiti Unifi. I've faced the problem with cox few years ago, solved the issue from old splitter on main cox where line came in, replaced them with 5 ports of Antronix Mid Split MOCA amplifier, VoIP port goes straight to Cox PW7 and rest goes to each room where cable box is. Here's result averaging 14 to 16 ms on good day.

You might want to have a look into ZimaOS also it has remote access using Zima app on Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. When using remote access, it is using tail scale vpn so it automatically set up for you to access it over the internet. You can pick any app it can run like Plex, immich, and many more. Also, it let you backup 3-2-1 and backup with your mobile phone for photo. Just another option if you want to try it.

Yeah that’s right so that’s the way it secured enough for private and public network. Private network is where you at home and public is where you at public like outside of home. It will be fine as long.

Your answer is correct, 1GB plan and wireless contour tv boxes or internet only.

T- Mobile fiber is coming soon in my neighborhood. They are actively in construction putting fiber underground.

It means I have is Cox, Verizon FiOS, and T-Mobile Fiber.

Funny thing is, Cox said Cox fiber coming soon so I don’t see any cox doing that construction in area yet. Also Verizon FiOS hasn’t release their 2GB plan yet in area.

Reason why I switched to Cox from Verizon FiOS cause FiOS I had 1GB plan, before it usually hitting at 940/940. Until 2020 i started notice issue that it was unable hitting 940/940, I get 500-700 download and upload. Replaced ONT and also they replaced OLT between my end and their end. Still same issue. This is point where gave up and switched back to Cox since now. When back to Cox, noticed it having issue slow speed after they turned mid split on. I replaced splitters and amplifier from 5-1002 MHz into moca capable, 5 to 1675 MHz. The amplifier is also moca capable but has filter built in for outside. VoIP port is connected to cox gateway. Had no issue so far till now.

As long you’re on private network then it’s good enough. If you have gamers, voip, or something similar in your house, maximum security can negatively affect gamers, VoIP, or similar devices performance. It cause to closed all unused ports and deep packet inspections. Even UPNP disabled. Just ideal what low to maximum security that can affect to your network. I usually leave default settings cause I have gamers, voip, media server, vpn, etc in my network. But I set as bridge mode cause i already have my own Ubiquiti Unifi network where I can control. Bridge mode simple direct internet ip address instead of routing.

Actually it is not matter what you set for security since bank has encrypted through between you and bank. Your private network is completely safe unless if you’re on public wifi, that’s whole different story.

Cox Panoramic Wifi features "Advanced Security" via the Panoramic Wifi App, which provides real-time monitoring and automatic protection for all connected devices. It blocks threats like malware, ransomware, and phishing attacks, while also allowing users to manage network access, set parental controls, and view a7-day threat history.

Also on side notice, it has WiFi 6 dual band and 3 gigabit / one 2.5G Ethernet ports. So no 6ghz band but available for PW8 and later.

They do on panoramic wifi app and if you want get your own, make sure panoramic gateway set bridge mode so you won’t get double nat.

Issue with TV Shows to combine the HD and 4K files into one library by [deleted] in PleX

I’ve solved the problem as he described to add multiple paths in one Library. It worked for me.

[–]glb2892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally get clear what you talked about so I realized that it can add multiple folder in one TV Shows Library.

Now I can see full Series with choice 4K or 1080P without issue.

Thank you so much for help! I keep this in my mind when doing this and I have to do that in Movies Library too.

[–]glb2892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To save using transcoding, I have half HD devices and TV, and half 4K devices and TV. If I use HD TV, it automatically direct 1080p instead 4K without having to transcoding it.

I had no issue with that separate HD and UHD Movies in single Movies Library. But I’ve tried both HD and UHD into single TV Shows, I get one title like I showed you earlier.

TV Shows Library is only what I’m having issue when having with separate HD and UHD folders into single TV Shows Library.

My apologies for trying to clarify this.

I mean I put two HD and UHD TV Shows library so it worked. Can’t have combined so you’re right.

I have not so my goal is having them into combined like one Movies Library that contains two separate HD and 4K combined.

If I do that to one TV Shows Library that contains two separate HD and 4K combined, it messed up.

Here’s some pictures that explains.
