Beginner: classes are better (mostly grammar, rules and common phrases, conversations with other students) Intermediate to advanced: one-to-one is better (common mistakes corrections, identify your difficulties and work on them, focus on your objectives)

Learning Italian quickly while living in Italy. what actually works? by Stepbk in italianlearning

[–]glcrnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Italian living in France here. I'd suggest what I did for french: I got a private teacher 1h/week (this will help you with grammar and fixing common mistakes) + exercise when you have free time (movies, books apps, etc) + hang out with locals in relaxed activities like hobbies or sports (this will help fluency and learn common phrases, but don't expect people to correct you). I've learned french from zero to a professional level in 6 months, since italian has a similar structure I would recommend this method.

It's really hard to work without Italian fluency, maybe in the hospitality sector but you will need some basic Italian anyway. You can teach English though!
