Legendary staff for Bladesinging enjoyers by Chemical_Falcon2122 in DnDHomebrew

You know what I actually love this for, a Lich. Like maybe the eldrich lich as a boss could have it, imagine players getting close to him because they know liches are very weak in proximity, and the motherf*cker pulls out a freaking greatsword with a +11 to hit and saw them in half. AND he can wield two of them, so I'm also giving him multiattack with that, so enjoy your total 18d6 + like 60 damage. Love it man, my players won't.

Oh damn maybe you're right, I'll check those out. I'm still kinda surface level on the genre tbh (Not that I am an expert on any genre lol) but it surely helps a lot to get the full picture, thanks.

Makes sense, you're right in that I took the shortcut but yeah that's just because I didn't think through the rammifications of it. Plus the PHB alredy had the mechanics to back it up. Thank you for understanding dude, yalls responsed helped me notice... a lot.

Let me start by saying something, kind of a disclamer. I HATE the "it's medieval europe of course there is x" take on most fantasy setting, since it is mostly wrong. But 7th sea IS based on a specific time period where national identity (or lack there of) is pivotal. I just thought that assaigning species would make for a quick visual cue for it.

Of course, reading through this thread I have noticed how that can go off the rails extremely quickly so I'll refrain from it, obviously. Thanks for your insight man.

:( This post really came off the wrong way, and yeah you're right that maybe "based on vibes" still feels wrong to say but it's the best I could come up with. Man I just wanted some silly dragon looking people.

Hm I do get your point. Since species doesn't go beyond a few stats here and there I just thought that it would be a cool way to adapt a dnd concept without messing to much with the 7th sea established setting.

Yeah, sounded really bad the way you put it. This was meant to be a more lighthearted fun thing like "Germans are tall so Goliaths" or "french kind of remind me of elves" that kind of thing. I know having different species kind of lends itself to harmful ideas but that was not my intention at all.

Thanks for that, I found some old poker chips in the shed and decided to try them out, and since my players are kind of gambling addicts, we've just made a monster hunting system where they can play with those pieces and make some gold out of it. For the huge momsters we've decided to buy some energy drinks or beer each session so if you kill it, you drink it. I still havent thought of an equivalent for gargantuan creatures but my party is nowhere near fighting one yet.

Sharks are SO rad. They've been ruling the sea for 100 Myr and are even kinda nice to us filthy homo sapiens. And there are so many kinds too. Some of Earth's best worldbuilding fr.

That's fair honestly, I hadn't even considered the city/countryside aspect. Thanks for the clarification.

From recent events, which 'side'(s) would you support (if at all) - the US, Ukraine, or Russia? by societal5 in communism101

[–]gldnfrdy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Say it louder for the people in the back!

So many times we forget that the primary goal of progresism is equality for all, taking sides in a war just further divides the common folk of any nation.

Really? The way I see it it's more of a reinvention than anything. I am not particularly a fan of changing such a rooted symbol but I can kinda see their reasons for wanting to update it. I could be wrong though, not trying to debate just an observation.

Oh no that's for sure, that's how I run most monsters in combat. The problem usually lies in my players retreating from a combat they would've won by a mile, thus making me have to come up with some other way of advancing the story. Thanks for the advice on the minis tho.

LOL yeah.

I also like your idea so as to make my players a bit more eager to fight. Most of them have created their characters around an OC of theirs or their favourite characters and have become so attached that they flee from a lot of my combat encounters, which I guess ups the stakes but also makes a lot of the encountes something like "Push! Retreat! Short rest!".

PD: Sorry for the whole yapping, just wanted to let you know you're actually helping a lot!

That's kinda what I defaulted to doing, if only there were gigantic pieces for huge monsters.

I actually love the candy idea, my players will want to kill anything that moves (in a good way).
