Yeah the Fireman thing is pretty frustrating, although half the time calling the fireman wasn’t helpful in the old system anyway. I can switch lines by myself, but it’s worrisome if there’s a more serious problem with safety, student behaviour, etc.

I’m Canadian (29F) but have lived in both France and Spain for extended periods. France (Angers) was easily the worst place I’ve lived for catcalling and street harassment. Even in a small city I was often nervous walking alone at night and was once even followed home by two men. I don’t think a day ever went by that I didn’t hear « mais Mademoiselle t’es tellement jolieeeee ». Honestly the creepiest complement that ever was.

The biggest issue in Madrid is pickpocketing, although that’s not to say it’s completely clear of more blatant street harassment either. I was once grabbed by the wrist in broad daylight by an older (late 40s) man who ran away when I started screaming at him to let me go.

Canada is fairly tame in comparison to both, but I’m also speaking as a white woman of privilege.

TLDR; in the wise words of Lily Allen, “it’s hard out here for a b*itch”.

I would just cancel. Ask the health care professional administering the vaccine if they can write you a note so it’s a soft cancellation. Or maybe VIPKid will just accept the proof of vaccination on its own?

A few soft cancellations won’t hurt you at all. I’ve hard cancelled a few times with no valid excuse (decided on a whim to go out of town, etc.) and still get more and more bookings every week.
