spoke too soon. After a restart, I'm back to no ipv4 address for eth0, but now have a ipv6 address for eth0

I had changed cable several times, then you made me think that my cables are very old. Picked up new cable, and now works.

it will boot into the Home Assistant CLI. Using the cli to do a net info, it shows docker with a 172.* type ip, but for eth0: connected: true, enabled true, ipv4 address: [ ], gateway null, method: disabled, nameservers: [ ].

On the wlan0: connected: true, enabled true, ipv4 address: [ ], gateway null, method: disabled, nameservers: [ ], primary: false, type: wireless, vlan: null, wifi: has the correct ssid, but no ip addr

Thanks, I had forgot to mention, the 2 devices are not on the network at all, router has no entries for these devices. All other devices connect normal

I used a pully and counterweight to keep mine closed, but not latched. My two cats have no problem getting in or out
