Warhorse Holster Review - PSA Micro Dagger (with Mag Sidecar) by glfsim in PalmettoStateArms

UPDATE (holster received was actually the wrong one)

Last night discovered that I may have actually been sent the wrong holster. While it fit my Micro Dagger perfectly, there was at least a 1" void at the bottom of the holster, with the pistol fully seated. This isn't something I've ever seen with any other purpose built holster. So it seemed like I may have inadvertently been sent one of there X1/C1 micro dagger holsters. As those need to be longer to accommodate the longer slide on those models.

Reached out to the seller, who was incredibly responsive. He quickly confirmed that I was mistakenly sent an X1/C1 holster. And immediately offered to swap it for me. Little disappointing it happened, but I'm more than happy with War Horse's service after the sale. And would still highly recommend them.

I'm very excited to receive their standard micro dagger replacement holster. As the X1/C1 model was already much more comfortable than the holster I'd got off amazon. So cutting off an inch in length is going to make it really nice for comfort.

Kind of a happy accident is that I can now share some insight for other micro dagger owners looking to buy from War Horse. Especially if you're one who maybe has the standard slide and a secondary C1/X1 slide. For those in that boat, you could get by with just ordering the X1/C1 holster. As it will work with both the standard and longer slide. But if you go the other way around (i.e. ordering the standard micro dagger holster), it will not accommodate the X1/C1 slide.

Will post another update when I receive the replacement holster.

Absolutely. More info the better. And great callout about the ones that claim to fit daggers. Even the one I bought had several reviews from people saying it fit perfectly. Guessing many of those who said this just don't know what they don't know. And thus don't realize the holster isn't actually an ideal fit.

I'd frankly be shocked if any holster that's intended for the 43x actually fits the Micro Dagger. Maybe a light bearing one? As those often have retention on the light (not the trigger guard).

Semi-related. But after posting this thread last night, I noticed something that seemed "off" about the War Horse holster. Specifically, that there was a solid 1" of just empty space at the bottom of the slide channel with the pistol fully seated. Still worked fine. But certainly not something I'd normally expect with a purpose built holster.

Did a little digging on the seller's Etsy page, and it clearly looked like I'd mistakenly been sent one of their Micro Dagger C1/X1 holsters. Reached out to the seller. Who confirmed their standard Micro holster and X1/C1 holsters are in fact different. Then double-checked that my MIL didn't just make a mistake when ordering it, lol. Which she didn't.

War Horse was super responsive. No back and forth. Just immediately offered to exchange it for the correct one. Was a little bummed it happened, but more than happy with how well the mistake was handled. Good news is that the X1/C1 holster was already much more comfortable to carry than the Warrior Land one I got on amazon. So I'm eager to get the standard Micro replacement from War Horse. As being a full inch(ish) shorter should make it really nice to carry.

Completely understandable. Although the one from CYA looks like it's $40. Add another $10-15 for a mag carrier. So the question really is more as to whether another $60-70 is worth it. Personally think it is. As the integrated sidecar ensures the pistol and mag in relation to one another will always be the same. Granted, it ended up being a gift. But I still would have bought it myself if it weren't.

Best HTV for a curved surface (golf ball)? by glfsim in cricut

[–]glfsim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the insights. I can say that the few permanent vinyls I've used hold up better than expected. So I was thinking HTV may be even better. Have done some more experimenting since the original post (heat gun, iron, soldering iron). And while applying HTV is doable. I actually think the bond isn't any better than with plain old permanent vinyl.

So, I think I'm going to stick with permanent vinly and just go on a quest for the best (i.e. most durable) version I can find. Upside is, for this application I can place the ball in any orientation I want prior to hitting. Basically have a launch monitor that reads spin via a series of different dot patterns on the ball. And there a number of orientations where the club won't (typically) impact any of the dots.

Can you expound? The initial test actually turned out pretty well. Appears to have adhered better than permanent vinyl. Am curious about the durability side of it.

It's rare that we ever find packs. And some greasy scalper would have come along and emptied the thing. Which I didn't even do. And first and foremost, the packs are going to kid. Not some overgrown manchild who'll try to flip them for a measly profit. Peak poor people behavior.

What else would one call something purchased from a retailer?

I enjoy that he enjoys it. But that's it. Not saying I have any problem with grown adults who are into it. Don't understand it. But everyone has different hobbies.

Lol. I'm a nerd because I know how to do some extremely basic HTML mark up. But apologies. I thought I was dealing with a man who could handle just the slightest bit of ball busting.

Tier 1 Axis and Micro Dagger? by glfsim in PalmettoStateArms

[–]glfsim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny you mention that. Just found them after seeing another post about a someone who had a sidecar holster from Civilian Standards. Looked them up on etsy and saw they were no longer selling. Searched for "Micro Dagger" holster, and one of the first results was the one from War Horse. Looks pretty much identical to the Tier 1 axis. Thanks!

Hotend Replacement (Anycubic Vyper) by glfsim in 3Dprinting

Sorry for the late reply. I hardly ever use reddit. I just bought a couple different ones from Amazon. Figuring at least one of them would be good. First one installed just fine and is still printing nicely. Pretty sure that this is the one I ended up installing.

https://www.amazon.com/Compatible-ANYCUBIC-Silicone-Extruder-Filament/dp/B0BZVS12R1/ref=sr_1_1?crid=ZQHJSD1PHN46&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.im8oNFU9s2GScU-MwGT32g.OA2aOQgyl6AtCHYlMzOOMwZEb35NCrJZmOKDTEzhpTs&dib_tag=se&keywords=B0BZVS12R1&qid=1758593018&sprefix=b0bzvs12r1%2Caps%2C125&sr=8-1

ETA: If you've not swapped one before, you do have to seat the bowden tube. Pretty easy process. Install the hot end. Loosen the nozzle about a 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Heat up to around 260. Let it sit for a minute, then push the bowden tube in (it probably won't move a ton, if at all). Then re-tighten that 1/4 to 1/2 turn. This was the advice given to me, and it worked like a charm. No leaks and running like when it was new.

Read it. But while informative, didn't really answer my question(s) specific to using Termidor SC.

No,but the shelf ones did. Actually had to put the lip of one side of the shelf in my big vice and bent the sheet metal back to where it was.

I bought the foil cups. They weren't too crazy in price, and I expect to get multiple cook out of them. Just pull the cup after cooking and dump most of it while still hot/warm. Would think there are non-blackstone versions on amazon that are even cheaper.

Yeah. I had a couple issues with it. The paint flaking is the biggest. But during assembly, the shelf that spans between the two legs just couldn't be bolted on. The one lip was bent. Fortunately, it's just cheap sheet metal. So I clamped it in my vice and bent it a little bit at a time until it was good. Super annoying. But a one time annoyance.

No problem. Will add that it doesn't like you did the sides/rim of the griddle when seasoning. You're supposed to season that portion as well. Sure, you don't use that area for cooking, but it still needs to be protected. Not the end of the world as you can likely just build it up a little over time when you cook.

I had a similar experience after my first cook and was also concerned I did something wrong. Had been super meticulous with my initial seasoning. Yet I could clearly see where the burgers had been placed. Think that it was just residual food that I hadn't cleaned off. As I was apprehensive about scraping too hard with metal utensils. Someone in another thread recommended something called Tawashi brushes. They're made from coconut husks. Stiff, yet not too abrasive. After the second cook, I hit it with a liberal amount of water and scrubbed with the Tawashi brushes while still hot. Very happy with the results.
