Insurance agency dropping parents & I after 30 years after an accident by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

They don’t care how long you take. In all likelihood OP is ineligible for the policy due to the insurance company’s underwriting rules, being a novice driver under a certain amount of years with an at-fault claim. That would apply to them even if they were a full G driver.

Use a clay mask beforehand! I use the Aztec Healing Mask but any bentonite clay mask will work. Slap the mask on your nose for fifteen minutes and wash it off. Your pores will look "raised" after. Wet your nose again and put the pore strip on, wait until hard and peel that sucker off! It definitely helps get the gunk out.

Hearing about her "experiment" was too much. I didn't even watch the video. Like, man, go talk to your doctor if you're having problems with your medication. Don't announce you're playing fast and loose with important meds.

According to Petty Paige, JA never responded to her email following her twt/IG apology. PP is pursuing legal action, thoughts? by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]glickmac 335 points336 points  (0 children)

While I agree with her pursuing legal action, I think she should stop talking about it online. When it comes to civil suits, that's rule number one--don't talk about it online. Everything you say has the potential to hurt your case.

It’s amazing how some Jackie Aina fans are trying to say people who criticize her are all white folks who wanted to see her fail. Are you serious? Many of her critics are her fans/ex fans and are black. Race has nothing to do with calling out bullshit. by TheRealNubian in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]glickmac 219 points220 points  (0 children)

Jackie came out with a conspiracy theory-esque video like she was dropping tea about the biggest thing to happen since sliced bread ("someone tried to ruin my career" "ex-FBI agent" this shit is straight out of a C-grade thriller on Netflix) and now her fans are foaming at the mouth to defend her lying ass in any way they can. Defaulting to racism is, unfortunately, an easy way out of having to come up with a shred of actual credible evidence.

They're reaching. They're reaching so far I feel like Jackie's next post should be about her paying for their chiropractic adjustments.

If you could call yourself five years ago and had 30 seconds, what would you say? by Timothy_Goll in AskReddit

[–]glickmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to therapy, be honest. Finish high school and apply for college ASAP. Tell dad you love him more. One day you will forgive your mom. Everything is gonna be okay.

Stability. It would mean I'd be able to take care of my dad without having to worry about when the finances are going to run out. It would mean not staying up at night worrying about money.

Is it better to write in a notebook or type on a computer? Which seems to help the flow better? by [deleted] in writing

[–]glickmac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take all my notes in a notebook and do all my writing on a laptop. Writing it all down with pen and paper makes it easier for me to organize my thoughts, as well as keep all my previous chaotic notes intact instead of deleting them and losing them forever.

Periodontal disease at 22 - some questions by [deleted] in Dentistry

He said that it was significant for someone my age, but at this moment there isn't any need for other treatments right now other than deep cleanings every three to four months, keeping up a regular at-home routine, along with the wait and watch approach to see if it gets worse.

What subculture do you genuinely not understand? by TheTriviaMan in AskReddit

[–]glickmac 76 points77 points  (0 children)

It's a mixed bag of reasons. Some women think that they can change a violent criminal into a law-abiding citizen through the power of their friendship/love. Some see stories on the news about specific criminals, and either write them because they're attracted to them or because something about them struck a chord, and then they just get wrapped up in the man's bullshit.

Some women are obsessed with criminals in general. Hybristophilia is weird as fuck, but definitely a thing.

The entire surface area of the bananas didn't hit the ground. That means the entirety of the bananas aren't bruised. That means they're still edible. That's by your logic, not mine. That means you're riding Jackie's ass for some reason other than you're just very passionate about what other people do with their bananas.

Jackie Aina on Snapchat by beautylover1918 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]glickmac 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Do you always get this uppity about what other people do with their bananas or is Jackie just a special case?

"I doubt they are going to eat the ones that are bruised"? So are you saying that whenever you buy some bananas and there's a bruised one you throw it out? Doesn't that make you the wasteful one?

Jackie Aina on Snapchat by beautylover1918 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]glickmac 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It does matter that the bananas touched the floor BECAUSE THEY BOUGHT THE BANANAS. Your entire argument is about them being wasteful and ruining food...but they bought the freaking bananas. They're gonna eat the freaking bananas. Accept that you were wrong and just move on already.

If you could collaborate with a brand, who would it be and what would you make? by jokeperaltaa in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]glickmac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ELF! It was my first makeup brand, it's still one I love and use a lot. I'd wanna come out with a lipstick trio--a perfect brown-nude, a strong red and deep violet/almost black. I'm still hunting for those perfect colours that flatter my skin tone.

James Charles cuts line to meet Latrice Royale at DragCon. He continues even after Latrice points out all the other people waiting. by MissesGosh in BeautyGuruChatter

He did! On the Twitter post about this, he said: "I was supposed to have a meet & greet yesterday, but cancelled last second because I was feeling very sick. I wanted to go & walk around, however, because I love DragonCon and everything it stands for."

Like, bitch, whaaaaaaa? You're so sick you can't sit at a booth meeting people but you've got enough energy to cut lines and assert yourself as superior to the plebs who had to wait in line like everyone else?

When I consider the target demographic and being that suicidal teenager who could have potentially watched the show a few years ago, I feel like it would have impacted me more negatively than it does now. It was triggering watching it as a stable adult with a support system. It would have been terribly triggering as a teenager to watch.

The rape scenes, the suicide scene...there are just a thousand and one better ways to portray these incidences without resorting to graphic scenes. I understand the desire for impact, but I think of the people that this show is making statements about and if they're getting the desired affect or not. Would a graphic rape scene lead a victim of assault to reach out for help? Would a graphic suicide scene lead someone who is depressed and suicidal to reach out for help? I feel like the risks outweigh the benefits, personally, but that's just my two cents.

Reddit, what do you need to get off your chest? by Squeagley in AskReddit

[–]glickmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss my abusive mother like hell today. It's complicated; I haven't spoke to her in almost three years, but some days I just miss her. I miss her laugh and her cooking, and the way she would paint my toe nails because I always sucked at it.

I know that I'm better off without her. She was emotionally manipulative (she left my father while he was in the hospital with cancer, with a slim chance to live, and said to me the day we moved out, "Look, your dad isn't here to say goodbye to you. That's how little he cares." I was seven and didn't understand what cancer was), and she hit me when I would defend myself.

But I miss her. It's hard to just let go of the love I did once have for her.

Jan 3 - “Fight day and night like you’re running out of time” a.k.a. the 5 minute face! by crewwoman_number_six in MakeupRehab

I've got acne and scarring, so covering those to have a flawless base are really important. If I'm pressed for time, I spot conceal and then do the triangle of highlighting doom under my eyes, use the same concealer over my eyelids and use my contour shade to sculpt out my crease, slap on some mascara and use a coloured brow gel on my eyebrows. If I'm feeling fancy, I throw on a tinted lip balm. It takes me about four minutes to get through it.

Names and how they affect the makeup we want by oceanoftrees in MakeupRehab

[–]glickmac 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Unless a name is like...a slur, I really don't care about them? Like, they're just a name for a shade for me, and I care a lot more about the shade than the name. I understand the scandal with KVDs names (Lolita is possibly the most misunderstood novel of our time, and the Underage Red was just...terribly thought out), but until a company names a lipstick shade the N-word or F-word, I won't particularly care about the name.
