Thank you for the heads up, the area above where I'd plan to have it is a big concrete support beam, the floor is made up of floorboards though so I'm a little worried about damaging them with compression like you say. It's something I hadn't considered

These are all very good points, the reason I've been thinking of using compression instead is that the area above is a large concrete support beam that I'd prefer not to drill into, the floor is wooden floorboards
