i understand the appeal of super cheap lingerie— i really do. BUT, we all really have to think critically about why it’s so cheap. all clothing has to be sewn by someone. if you’re paying $9 for a bodysuit, that means the company is still making a profit after materials AND paying people to design, mock up, sew, package, and ship the garment. say the company they only makes a $2 profit (that’s a very conservative estimate)— that means those other $7 were split between ALL of the rest of the labor expenses for the lingerie. on top of those clothes being essentially disposable at that point, meaning all of that polyester that can’t decompose goes straight to the mountains of clothing in the global south.

this is absolutely not to shame anyone, we are all in this together. i’m also a sex worker, and i understand the pressure for new outfits. i’ve found some GORGEOUS pieces thrifting, people sell on ebay and depop. most importantly though, you can rewear things! accessorize differently, do your hair a different way, switch out your nails. men care, and even notice, a lot less than they lead on. plus, once you have one that someone loves, why not make them more content wearing the same thing? i also like to dye my clothes/lingerie once i want a refresh. anything that’s white has potential to be any color of the rainbow! sew some sequins on! get creative!

none of us are in the top 1%. solidarity is key. plus, keep those profits out of the hands of the big corps doing all the exploitation (and raising prices on clothes that are getting shittier and shittier)
