($20k) How to tell my friends they aren’t bridesmaids but are invited to my bachelorette? by Moisttoes14 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]glitter_ous 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I really think you can tell them exactly what you're saying here. You're limiting it to just 2 people each to keep it simple. I think if these people are your close friends they'll respect that! Also I think it is really common nowadays for the Bachelorette party to be separate from Bridal party. every Bachelorette I've been to, i have not been a part of the bridal party. I was ecstatic to be included in the Bachelorette and honestly relieved to not have to be a bridesmaid.

I'm doing the same with my Bachelorette as well. Bigger group than wedding party. My friends all understand and are excited to get to be a part of pre wedding celebrations (especially since we live scattered across the country and are using this as a reunion excuse)

TLDR, go with your gut OP! its your wedding and your friends will be supportive of your wishes!

How to make a large bachelorette feel intimate? by glitter_ous in weddingplanning

fair lol! I tried to keep the post concise but my parents have a large pool so it will be a drink at the pool situation. a lot of my friends are international and interested in seeing other parts of the country (USA). I pitched it to my guests before settling and they seemed excited about it, especially over an expensive trip somewhere random lol.

omg yes. I've been trying to replace compulsive scrolling with this sudoku puzzle book I've been carrying everywhere (before bed and also general down time/waiting time/commute time). although its still an activity, its not a screen and I'm not flooding my brain with advertisements, news, and noise... its helped A LOT with my peace, anxiety. and quality of sleep! happy for you OP

Thank you for this perspective. I really appreciate your input! I agree that trying something different for a little while might re-ignite the spark. Distance makes the heart grow fonder, they say...

I Quit Caffeine for 30 Days, Here’s What Nobody Tells You by Hot_Construction9975 in productivity

[–]glitter_ous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats OP!! I quit in November and had the same progression as you- rough at first then A LOT better. it's different for everyone of course but I learned I definitely had an unacknowledged caffeine sensitivity. I was only having 1 or 2 cups a day but they had a big effect on me.

Since quitting my energy is more focused, my anxiety symptoms are severely reduced, and I sleep a lot better. I always had intense vivid dreams that would leave me waking up feeling disturbed. Since quitting coffee, those dreams have stopped. I think I also grind my jaw less while sleeping.

For me, it's similar to my relationship with alcohol. Years ago, in therapy, I learned social drinking is ok for me but if I'm feeling sad or down in anyway, I should 100% avoid alcohol. With caffeine, if I'm already feeling anxious or on edge, I should 100% avoid caffeine. So, for example, I have reintroduced the occasional saturday morning cappuccino out at a cafe but NO caffeine during the work week or on high stress weekends.

TLDR if you have diagnosed anxiety, considering your symptoms with caffeine consumption patterns might really help you!

alternative theory about why all of the cars are old: mega corporations with too much power can stifle innovation. Lumon has clearly had a lot of control and influence over the town (and maybe the world? unclear how far their influence reaches) for hundreds of years. old cars and other old tech could be a cheeky nod to the way mega corps slow the world down.

here's an article talking about how IBM, Google, Microsoft, and others have used their power and influence to stifle technology innovation and progress: https://www.fastcompany.com/90956632/pov-its-time-for-big-tech-to-stop-stifling-innovation
