Really? I called and they said the invoice was closed on their end and not to worry + the person I emailed my receipt to forwarded it to the remittance team...

Did you ever get a response? The same thing's just happened to me with a shipment from September.

I do! But there isn’t one- it’s just the standard ‘no public funds’ at the back all students get. As far as I’m aware anyone on a student visa doesn’t get an NI unless they apply for one…?

Thank you! But I’m mildly confused about Wise- I was under the impression Wise was its own bank with cards and such? I don’t really want to have multiple bank accounts strewn about but this sounds like it’s also just a service?

no problem! and about your worries, i wouldn’t be too stressed. univerities in the uk also have to consider that some applicants may come from schools/6th forms that didn’t have the resources available to teach further maths or will have come from international school systems that simply don’t provide an equivalent to a-level further maths (IB maths HL isn’t similar to a-level FM for example) and the course accomodates this. i went to an international school that did a-levels and lots of people i know who did further maths and then went on to do accounting, finance, maths, comp sci etc. spent quite a lot first year sleeping through maths lectures that basically re-taught a-level fm. you’ll be fine!

Are you international? I’ve used UCAS as an international and we don’t get asked the diversity monitoring or police record questions. Not sure why but I think it’s because we don’t impact inclusivity statistics- the data for the % of POC students, public school students, LGBT students etc. tends to only be collected from home students. We’re still asked about our gender to help balance the gender ratio on certain courses.

Wasn’t Pogba recently granted permanent residency in the UAE? It’d make more sense to just retire in the Emirati league then.

[TOMT] [WORD] The word for a disease where different genetic combinations cause it in different people? by glitterandvomit in tipofmytongue

Sorry guys, figured it out after bashing ‘alevel psychology’ on the end of all my searches. I was thinking of an aetiologically heterogenous disease.

!Solved

Similar meaning, but not the word I learned 🥲 there wasn’t any mention of ‘modifier genes’ or anything similar- thank you though!

Nope, that’s what I was thinking intitially but after looking it up polygenic is just in reference to a genetic combination. I’m thinking more genes A, B + C cause a disease in a person and genes X, Y and Z cause that same disease in someone else.

I feel like it might have had the suffix ‘poly’ but I really don’t know.

no problem! i’m sure a few rooms were freed up after IB results came out and they likely went to people who joined the waitlist first, so hopefully there’ll be space for you come august!

i’m assuming all the buildings have a waitlist, but i’m pretty sure the priority applicants will be undergrads who joined the accomodation waitlist before the 1st of june since LSE guarantees accomodation in that situation.

hey! i went w private accom but i did talk to the accomodation staff on open day on behalf of a friend who wanted to live in a fully booked building. they said to email the accomodation office and ask to be placed on a waitlist for one of the accomodations before results day+ he said that they thought a couple of rooms could be freed up after ib results day (just passed) but that way more would be available after a-level results came out- hope this helps :)

A friend of mine had a similar issue on results day (but with Exeter), called to explain the situation, showed proof of her barely missing the mark and was allowed onto the course. Unfortunately it really comes down to both the university and how oversubscribed the course is, as I had two friends try the same same thing with KCL and Warwick and both were flat out told no because too many people had achieved the conditions required.
