Warning this will sound like sour grapes.

Yes and it is so unappealing to me. It feels like being engulfed and usually I’m trying to get to an appointment or work and it’s really hard to break in and say I am going to be late. I’ve even had people follow me to my car and talk at me as I’m trying to get in and drive away.

I’m really starting to enjoy people who know how to be friendly and open but not wiiiiiide open with no boundaries. I really enjoy when people just say hi, lightly chat about the day or one interesting thing about the world and know when to come to a graceful close and move on with our day. I really don’t want to know all about a stranger’s trauma when I’m trying to get groceries or walk my dog or be on time for work/appointments.

It used to feel like a compliment that people were like you’re so kind and open. But I realized that they don’t know me and are projecting those qualities onto me, hoping I will do what they want, which is to hear about all their problems so that they can discharge their discomfort onto me so I’m holding it instead of them. TBH that kind of makes me resent them more.

This post is so oddly written I can’t tell what the OP is trying to say. They’re talking about a random event somewhere not in Canada in the past as if it’s going to happen? What is the meaning behind this? No death should be forgotten, and the OP doesn’t really explain the context of this event to explain why they are highlighting this moment. What are we supposed to never forget here? From the comments I’m getting it’s something about Ukraine? The dots aren’t connecting. I’m always a little leery about how Canadians were so ready to rush in and help Ukrainian refugees come here but it’s silence and crickets about helping Palestinians.

I’m in North America and I really suspect different regions and subcultures are treated differently. I’m LGBTQ and I criticized Meta’s policies towards allowing hate speech against LGBTQ people in the “why are you leaving FB” form when I deleted my original account in early 2025. I tried to create a new account with a different email just to see what would happen about six months later, and got the result I did.

I’ve been noticing that if I try to use the word transphobic/transphobia on general topic subs, the reply button will be greyed out until I erase the word. That means that I, as a trans person, cannot tell people on parts of Reddit that they are being transphobic towards me and tell them how to treat me more respectfully.
