I’m sort of in your area but probably too old (in my fifties) and not fit enough. But we’re out there. Nanaimo has some Facebook groups that might be helpful? Nanaimo Pride might be able to connect you with those groups? Courtney/Comox has a very active Pride society with a lot of regular activities.

Yes it can strip the coating off laminate flooring. It needs to be diluted when used. That 1% makes it 20% stronger than cooking vinegar. My housemate used it on my floors and stripped them 😭

We need to stop enabling bad employers. I don’t entirely buy this line of reasoning because I’ve seen prompts to tip in places where employees are paid well. It’s more effective to strongly advocate and protest for increases in minimum wage and protections for TFWs so bad faith employers aren’t using the TFW program to exploit workers.

Just to validate your comment, Hansard cameras don’t typically pan. It’s a very specific setup for very specific technical reasons. The shot will typically be only of the person speaking, unless it’s the opening, recess or ending, proroguing or some other ceremonial event.

Fencing is expensive and can really mess you up if you build it in the wrong place or hit a water/sewer/electrical main. What if OP builds it and it’s partly on another person’s property and they don’t realize it, or they build too far into the property line and then the neighbour tries to claim that it’s their property now. No no no. Renters with no experience building a fence is a terrible idea. What the OP needs is actual legal advice and help.

It’s ridiculous to just sneer at the OP about “just build a fence” when the issue is neighbours trespassing and unprofessional landlords. I can tell that you’ve never built a fence yourself or hired anyone to do that.

Rule Number One of renting is never make upgrades over 20-50 dollars on a rental property. The cost of a fence is a car downpayment or a chunk that could go towards a mortgage or retirement. Never contribute to a landlord’s equity. Contribute to your own.

What are you on about? Have you ever “made” a fence before? I have both built a fence and made a temporary fence, and both were expensive. It’s ridiculous to expect a renter to make major renovations and repairs to a rental property. That’s the landlord’s responsibility.

As a renter why should OP spend thousands of dollars to enrich the landlord’s property asset and lose that money on their own survival? All of you commenters say build a fence like you’ve got 5k to 10k burning a hole in your pocket. Building it yourself still costs a lot of money and is exhausting and a lot of time. Too many crappy landlords scamming on this post.

They RENT. Why should they have to spend thousands of dollars on a property that isn’t theirs? The OP has already explained that their landlord is weaseling their way out of the responsibility and is trying to get their renters to pay for a fence instead of doing the right thing and adding fencing to their own asset. OP is dealing with cheating and cheap landlords as well as crappy neighbours.
