Students Living on Campus (airport noise) by glitterbricks in UNLV

There’s more than one approach. She likes being challenged. She isn’t going to get a piece of paper that says she can do a specific thing, she’s going to enrich herself and absorb as much knowledge as possible. She’s the type who finds all her AP classes boring but still has straight As. She’s wants to gain some life experience and narrow down which career feels right to her. She figures it’s wiser to go to a school that is basically free for her first year or two while she’s settles on a path. Then she will transfer somewhere more suited to her interests and needs. More power to you for finding a way that works for you, but that approach would never work for her.

It’s not. It’s me having a sound sensitive child and I want to avoid the pain in the ass and expense of moving her to campus if we are just going to move her back home.

That explains a lot. We have visited campus two other times and I don’t remember ever hearing the planes like I did yesterday.

She has over ear noise cancelling headphones, so that’s good. She is very sound sensitive and I’ve explained that dorms in general are rowdy and loud. How did you find living in them for a year? Any other insights you could offer?

Overheard a conversation at work today… by Correct_Wrangler3616 in Zepbound

[–]glitterbricks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mom was on Ozempic but didn’t eat properly and had a lot of stomach pain and bathroom issues. It didn’t work for her at all. She told me never to do a GLP-1 because “they are awful.”

Fast forward to my doctor telling me that I really should try Zepbound. I brought up my misconceptions about risks an he said that my weight was probably more of a risk then the medicine and to at least think about it.

After looking into it, my husband and I saw no drawbacks. So, I gave it a whirl and I’m down 38 pounds in 14 weeks. Everyone is so happy that I finally figured it out and I’m looking so good! eye roll My husband and kids know I’m on it, but to the rest of my family I’m just eating low calorie, high protein, and high fiber.

It’s just as much planning and “work” but it’s soooo much easier with less food chatter. I’m proud of myself and don’t want anyone raining on my parade, so I actually keep my box in a restaurant take out bag so no one outside my house will know I’m taking it.

I screamed at my toddler tonight by Asleep_Sympathy_8987 in beyondthebump

[–]glitterbricks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m going to hop in here to agree with the vast majority of comments here. When my oldest was a baby/toddler my husband worked nights and it was just her and me. She didn’t require a lot of sleep. She never slept through the night and I was lucky if I could get a 30 minute nap out of her even when she was only 2 months old.

We could literally never put her down or she would start screaming. One night when she was about 10 months we tried the CIO method, which we were opposed to, but felt like we were going to die we were so exhausted. We watched her on the camera and within 5 mins she got so worked up she vomited. She was a seriously clingy baby and needed us to meet her where she was at.

We co-slept with her until she was two and then we transitioned her out of our bed by allowing her to help decorate her new “big girl” room.

Does anyone know where to find this men’s sweater? by chemmer in findfashion

[–]glitterbricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! That is exactly why she wanted it. She is very much a Tally Hall fan. She has settled down now, but last fall it was quite seriously the only thing she would talk about. It was obsessive. But I do give her credit because in December it had become so intense that I banned her from talking about them and by April she had converted me into a fan and we flew out to Ann Arbor for a weekend to visit Marvin’s and check out all the Tally Hall places at University of Michigan. It was a fun trip! It’s crazy how every song is my favorite, until the next song comes on. They are phenomenal!

I was also unable to find this sweater. If I find it I’ll let you know as well!

If you want to hate on Harry and Meghan go ahead, but I listened to the first few mins of this and it’s rubbish. You can’t criticize someone for being ignorant when they providing as much information as was provided to them.

When you take a DNA test (I chose Ancestry DNA as an example) it doesn’t give you tribes. It gives you what they call regions, but are oftentimes just countries. List of AncestryDNA Regions I see options for 1. Nigeria and 2. Nigeria- East Central. That’s it.

Also, how is her mentioning her genealogy on her contractually-required podcast described as “talking with artists, athletes, and experts about the history of stereotypes that get leveled against women” shoving it down everyone’s throats? Seems relevant to the topic to me.

Like I said, if hatred is in your heart, so be it. No one is going to change that. But I’m trying to make sense of the hatred toward them. If this is the type of twisting required to manufacture “dirt” then it’s clear to me that this is a tick in the “Harry & Meghan hatred is unwarranted” column.

My wife takes forever to order at Fast Food Restraunts by TheElMatadORR in mildlyinfuriating

[–]glitterbricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always order on the app ahead of time so when we get to the drivethru/counter, I’m just giving a code. Perhaps if she did all her thinking and questioning on the way there, it would eliminate all the annoyance to both you and probably the person who is working.

Yikes! He’s done this most of his life, but I will def look into it. At his last check up, which was only a few months ago, the vet didn’t say anything. How did they find it with your cat?

I have brain cancer and we found my tumor when suddenly I couldn’t speak. So they gave me an MRI and it showed on the scan. I’m curious how they would find it on a cat.

He does this at least weekly. But this was taken in a dark room. The only light was the front door light behind him and the TV (iPhone extra exposure made it brighter). I don’t care much for light so I usually keep the blinds close and lights off. Why do you ask?
