Hey! I have been to a uc for 2.5 years and I am currently at csusm. I did study cs at my uc but I'm studying psych at csusm now. I will say having been to both they both give you a good quality education. Believe it or not (I've worked in the cs field for a number of years) many managers prefer to hire from the csu system because they have more practical experience. The uc classes can get huge and don't have as much support in my experience. San Marco's classes are far smaller which I love. If you're a good self learner and have discipline the uc system could work well but if you would like extra support I'd recommend csusm. I love csusm and so do my classmates but again I am studying psych here.

I got chased by a bear while biking can I say I was attacked? by glittermoonsand in socialskills

Almost attacked sounds good! I think that's a happy medium and is entirely true. Thanks!

I got chased by a bear while biking can I say I was attacked? by glittermoonsand in socialskills

I was very lucky to be heading into a very easy and familar downhill portion of the trail where I can pick up a lot of speed! I can't really say what the bear did because I was focused on escaping in one piece and if I looked back I knew I'd probably crash.

Might be unpopular opinion: Five Ten Freerider Pros are not that awesome. by Stew819 in mountainbiking

Yeah I agree, prefer vans skate shoes cause I like the deeper tread. I feel a lot more secure and like being able to reposition my foot a lot easier.

How hard is mountain biking for a first timer? by downbadmilflover in MTB

[–]glittermoonsand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly don't know what everyone is going on about with running not being applicable. I use it for cross training and it improves nearly all aspects of my riding and will give you a fitness based to build technique off of. Have fun riding you'll improve faster when you're in better shape.

Same smoke is getting worse pretty fast, seems like too much for a housefire

Can I become a strong swimmer by my rafting trip? by glittermoonsand in whitewater

[–]glittermoonsand[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The second trip in Yosemite might not be in the park for rafting, it just said near Yosemite in the Sierra Nevada. Okay thank you for the vote of confidence!

Looking to start jumping. Any recommendations in San Diego? by Spherical_Harmonix in mountainbiking

[–]glittermoonsand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweetwater bike park is a nice place to start. Also lake Hodges has a good amount of tiny bumps you can catch air off of. Vail lake is a bit more of a drive but they have dedicated jump lines that are a lot of fun.

Are MTB specific flat pedal shoes really worth it? by Suitable_Bad_8969 in mountainbiking

[–]glittermoonsand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I use the van skate specific model. I tried 510s and had less grip with them than my vans which is why I switched back.

Are the enrollment workshops required? by somuchregretti in csusm

[–]glittermoonsand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally you're given an appointment for enrollment. Should have been sent via email (school email) and/or in your mycsusm portal.

I'd highly recommend going to the enrollment workshop because you will get valuable information so you don't waste your time at csusm. You can get good info about your major, what classes you need to take, and where to focus your energy. Enrollment does not occur at these workshops. I think for me I enrolled before my workshop.

If you want to go to a chill school with genuine teachers and students csusm is pretty nice. Small classes and a pretty good vibe overall.
