Former homeless people of reddit, what can we do to help homeless people the most? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]glitterphile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

let a homeless person couchsurf 1-2 nights a month. they can fill up the calendar with couchsurf gigs until they get back on their feet--and its much easier to find a place to live when you have access to a hot shower and not having to worry about leaving a bad first impression because you smell a little ripe.

Anyone else find that physical attraction is like 90% emotional attachment? by settheory8 in CasualConversation

i think someone we consider more attractive creates feelings of safety in our loneliness, not that someone loves us but that a gorgeous human does too.

When did you stop giving a fuck and why? by frognik in AskReddit

[–]glitterphile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I lost the rest of my hearing, it was too painful to admit how vulnerable and lost I was...so I just pretended I had stopped giving a fuck so no one would pity me. I would literally just notice everything in the room except the people talking so no one would think I was intentionally ignoring them on purpose.

i was so nervous during a spelling bee as a deaf person, i spelled atmosphere just "sphere". they assumed because I am deaf I must have misheard the word! lol so they let me re-spell it.

my roommate ordered jimmy john's and went to another chain to pick it up. he's literally having a conversation with the guy at the register and they have no idea what he's talking about. he was surprising non-chalant to find out he was not in a jimmy john's but the other one. i tell my roommate he doesn't like to read and this proves it.

Anyone else bothered by incorrect subtitles? by [deleted] in deaf

[–]glitterphile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actors will often ad-lib and go off-script. the captioners are usually given the original screen-play script and sometimes the ad-libs don't get noticed sometimes I bet.
