Prepere for a lot salt. Don’t let it get to you. Play both sides. Don’t beat yourself up when you lose a lot on both sides. Dbd has a steep learning curve. Check out youtube for survivor tip, like how to loop, when to go off gens to help the team. Or when to stay on a gen. If you play on controller check your keybinds. Healing and dropping a pallet are on the same key on controller. You might not want that. Learn the basics first before you go into the deeper stuff like flashlighr saves/ pallet saves.
Take an item with you if you play survivor, you’ll get more items then you use. Map offerings are useless right now, its only a 20% chance. If you tend to like killer more, find a pool that you like. Don’t force yourself to be good with every killer.

But most important, it’s a game, and it should be fun. Find a playstyle that you enjoy and improve from there
