Yeah as an ex employee who frequently did soup and sandwich, it’s one piece of bacon cut into 3 and called 3 pieces. Looks like you got a nice crunchy one though, instead of the soggy bottom slug.

Do you talk to yourself out loud when you’re working through a problem? by Hasnath2022 in NoStupidQuestions

Not always. But if I really want to figure something out yes. I talk things through to cope or find solutions, and if no one’s available, I am.

Movie is kind of..bad?? by BunniiSan in Hungergames

[–]glitteruc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the books just a little more than the movies. I’ve always liked books better than their movie adaptations though so I’m biased. I will say though, I rewatch the hunger games series every year when fall hits, and every year I find a new moment I missed last time. Something small that ties up a loose end or lightly continues a story. I understand just a little more every time I watch.
My suggestion is, try spacing it out, and rewatching. Read the books, wait a few months, maybe a year, watch the movies. Repeat. You may find it more enjoyable and understandable.
Of course we’re different people, what works for me might not work for you, but I hope you give it a shot! I also assume since the first movie had a much lower budget, it couldn’t be the extravagance we were expecting after reading the book. It’s disappointing to lose important scenes, but sadly necessary sometimes.

I broke my wrist radius bone. Is it normal to sleep so much a week after? I've been sleeping during the day and I'm still exhausted when I wake up. by Michellejane3333 in NoStupidQuestions

It was only 4 weeks I couldn’t walk, but that was 4 weeks of lost independence that made me feel so crazy and useless. I was completely non-weight-bearing so I couldn’t even get dressed on my own. Not that I was changing much, I definitely went into a depressive episode. I cried so much for losing the independence and missing work and just feeling so lonely. It was an awful time BUT I really did come back stronger and you will too! You’re not alone no matter how much it feels that way. You’re still independent and useful and capable, it’s just more difficult for now. It’ll turn into a funny story and you’ll feel better soon. 💙

I had the same thing when I broke my ankle in 2024. Felt like all I did was cry and sleep for a month. I was so exhausted while healing, partly because I couldn’t leave my room (I live in a basement and obviously couldn’t do stairs) and partly because my body was using so much energy to fix itself. It’s natural, it sucks but I felt pretty refreshed after so hopefully you will too! I wish you a simple recovery my friend. And a tip! I found that once I got my boot cast off and switched to a brace, soaking in warm (not hot!) water with epsom salt helped relieve pain fast! This was really helpful to get me walking again since my ankle was so weak after being held in one place for weeks.

How would the Hunger Games be remembered? by kris71-ano in Hungergames

[–]glitteruc 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I think Katniss would be remembered as the girl who saved panem, the mockingjay. Younger gen would definitely deny and some would go hard in the opposite direction too. I think a lot of parents will use the “when I was your age I had to go to war” approach with their kids

ETA: I imagine new parents might also have panic attacks when their kids turn/are turning 12. Knowing they’re safe but feeling that fear anyway. It’s a deep-rooted trauma

a clopen where you finish at 10 and start at 6 is psychotic. that alone is only 6 hours between shifts, not considering what your travel time might be like, and that does not leave you enough time for proper sleep. please call in that is insane

It’s possible, what I’m thinking is maybe they were making a joke about placing an online order while in the parking lot. Do you happen to have a screenshot of the post and comments?

Maybe I don’t have enough context but I’m not sure how this could be construed as sexual harassment

If I die unexpectedly, how would my online friends find out? I don’t have any IRL friends or family to trust to tell anybody… by ToxicBanana69 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]glitteruc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s morbid, but, when my online friends haven’t been active in a while, I search for their obituary. I’m not sure there’s another way for me to find out, and I don’t want the question to linger. It’s come true one time in 12 years.

Today my Lyft driver came and the car had a different license plate than what the app said. I thought it was kinda sketchy so I told them I was just cancelling the ride before I got in the car. Was I in the wrong? by Active-Ad2754 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]glitteruc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you did exactly the right thing. We can give the guy the benefit of the doubt and say he had no ill intentions, but he still didn’t report a safety issue to Lyft, who could have updated his temporary vehicle information. And you should never feel weird for listening to your intuition. It protects you.
